Shred With Ease Using the Wizard III Maple Neck
The Wizard III maple neck on the RG470DX lives up to its magical name, promoting effortless speed and fluid playing. Its thin, flat profile offers unmatched comfort, allowing your fingers to fly up and down the neck during solos and riffs. The silky satin finish enhances your grip for accurate, precise fretting. Designed specifically for shredding, this Wizard neck gives you the perfect blend of contour and slimness to conquer even the most demanding passages and techniques with ease.
Access Thick, Aggressive Tones With the Quantum Pickups
Outfitted with a powerful trio of Quantum pickups, the Ibanez RG470DX serves up thick, aggressive rock tones perfect for metal and hard rock. The Quantum neck pickup produces warm, vintage-flavored leads, while the Quantum middle pickup adds snarl and attitude to rhythms. For searing solos, the Quantum bridge pickup unleashes high-output crunch with excellent note separation. With a 5-way switch, you can blend the pickups and shape your tone for everything from clean arpeggios to heavy distorted riffing.
Enhance Playability With Jatoba Fingerboard
The RG470DX features a jatoba fingerboard with jumbo frets and pearl sharktooth inlays for excellent playability. Jatoba offers a dense, rigid feel that enhances note articulation and makes string bending smooth and responsive. The large pearloid sharktooth inlays provide great visual references while you're shredding up and down the neck. With its 16" fingerboard radius, the Ibanez stays comfortable during intricate solos and speedy passages.
Stay in Tune Using the Double Locking Tremolo
No matter how aggressively you use the whammy bar, the RG470DX's double locking tremolo system keeps your guitar sounding pitch perfect. The knife-edge bridge saddles add precision to the tuning stability, while the sturdy steel base plate provides a rock-solid foundation for dive bombs, flutter effects and other radical techniques.

Really great guitar that isn't too expensive
Just got this today and Wow! Not only did it look great it sounds awesome and even with the floating bridge it holds its tune like a rock. Now I did need to tune it right out of the box because the locking nut wasn't locked down all the way and not noticing this I dive bombed right away and went flat lol but that's no issue everyone says dont buy a guitar with a tremolo/floyd rose bridge because of the tuning nightmare and other complications, but just look up some YouTube vids and you should be fine just be patient I mean if you're patient enough for guitar alone you can handle tremolo bridges lol

I wouldn't get this guitar again
I got this guitar as a gift excited to plug it in I spent a lot of time trying to give it a good sound but there was no hope. The pickups were fuzzy there was a bad fret buzz and when I held it it felt like it was gonna Fall apart. I took it to my local music store to get it set up and it still didn't work well afterwards. I hate to say I won't by this guitar again

A fun guitar to have

What I like about this guitar is it is versatile with the HSH pickup configuration. I have been able to use it for metal, classic rock, funk and jazzy stuff just fine. Now if you don't have patience to restring a Floyd Rose, don't get this though it stays in tune just fine.
I would buy this again

Great value for the money. Action is good on arrival and I probably won't even need a setup. Had to retune but it's not that difficult. Tuning a Floyd Rose is pretty easy if you come into without fear and you watch a couple YouTube videos. Plays great and doesn't deal to heavy. Looks good too

The specs say proprietary pickups, so does that mean that I cant change the pickups.
No, you can still swap them out if you like. Proprietary means that Ibanez makes them.submitted6 years ago

How is the fret buzz. My wife bought me a starter Austin guitar. I've been practicing for a few months and am struggling with the feet buzz and getting the sound right.
This shouldn't have fret buzz, but it is possible. Most guitars are sent out with a basic setup on it, which from time to time may result in some fret buzz. It is recommended that you get a setup for optimal play-ability.
