Unbelievable Value!
After playing guitar for years a long time ago, I decided to start playing the bass about 6 months ago. I researched and the GSR 200 kept coming up as a great starter bass. The GSR200 is much, much more than that; this bass is a high quality precision made instrument. I put some DSR flat-wound strings on my GSR200 and the tone is really smooth and really good. I adjusted the neck with the truss rod (relatively easy to do), and this bass plays better (easier) than anything I have picked up to date. I have had two professional musicians play my bass, and they both said that it plays uncommonly well; as good or better than a mid-range Fender. Parts are great, the instrument is very durable, stays in tune really well, very adjustable. I purchased this bass with the idea that if I got into playing, I would upgrade . . . I am now playing with two amateur bands 3 days a week . . . so yea, I am kind of into it . . . but I have no intention of upgrading my bass. There is no need; this is an incredible instrument that meets all my needs! Kudos to Guitar Center as well!

I would never recommend this guitar.
The fret buzz on this guitar is terrible. As soon as I bought this guitar, fret buzz. I adjusted the saddles and all was well, but the very next day the fret buzz was back! This continued for a week, until not even adjusting the saddles would rid it of the terrible fret buzz. I looked down the neck, and sure enough the neck has a huge bow in it! No wonder the guitar sounds horrible. I would have messed with the truss rod but I don't want to ruin my warranty! I sure am taking it back to Guitar Center today.

I'm a 15 year old high school student, who desperately wanted to play bass and guitar after finding my current favorite band. My dad got me this exact bass for my birthday in March 2023 and I fell in love. I play her every day, and paired with an amazing amp I bought from my dad's friend, it just sounds so much better than I would've thought. I can literally play anything; jazz, metal, folk, it doesn't matter. It's easy to tune, stays in tune constantly, and the fretboard is perfectly thin, amazing for my tiny hands and other kids' tiny hands. This bass is absolutely perfect to use for long periods of time. I'm definitely going to keep her as long as I can. My only complaint is that when I first got her, there was a lot of fret buzz, but that was very easily fixable, and now she's flawless.
Few hickups, but now I LOVE this bass

So this is my first bass. I purchased a second bass (used, disclaimer), the Squire P Bass. The Ibanez KILLS it. My GSR200 is equipped with D'Addario ECB82 Flatwound Chrome strings. I had a good amount of rattle from the normal strings. I tried Ernie Ball Super Slinky (blue pack) strings, but they were even worse on the E and A strings. Then I went to my local GC and found these flats and brought them home. I guess the tension relieves the issue I had? Nontetheless, I LOVE this bass now, and the flats give it a beautiful look I can't speak highly enough of. The smooth glisten of the light on the flats, the blue on the stock and bridge, the deep sound of the strings, the super smooth slides I do now, the perfect tight-leaning tensions, it's all perfect. And the body is SO comfortable! The neck is the perfect length and shape for me, and the pickups are great heights to anchor my thumb on. I love this bass.

I will need an amp for this for at home. Small with decent sound. Don't just sell me an amp but something less expensive that I can hear.
My recommendation would be the Fender Rumble series. Super lightweight. It's solid state so it won't end up being as much price wise, and they are loud enough you can be heard.
