… " right off the bat " … I LOVE THIS LITTLE GUITAR !!! mostly, for living-up to the expected Ibanez quality … I like to play guitar while rocking in my rocking chair … the ¾ size and contoured " strat-like " body allows me to do this with great accessibility and comfort … had to do a little neck-work to remove a bit of " fret-sprout " … but, so-what ? when dealing with a shorter scale instrument, I believe consideration must be given to string tension and / or perhaps, string-gauge … so far, I'm just dealing with the strings that showed-up on this pup … 9's … 10's … ??? … not exactly sure … I tune this guitar up 3 half steps … thus rendering it an Eb instrument … !!! or whatever … anyway, had to re-install the strings at the tuning pegs (in a locking fashion) to assure non-slippage and re-intonate with some bridge (saddle) adjustments and Voila' … lovin' it !!! might try some heavier gauge strings in an effort to get back to a conventional E-tuning one of these days, but for now, getting into the higher tuning and the obligatory chord inversions … at any rate … very happy with my purchase … Thanks Guitar Center … Thanks Ibanez !!!

Bought this due to arthritis affecting hands and this is a great playing and sounding guitar with the stock 10-46 strings and was even better when I put on 11-48s. Can easily recommend this rig.

I am a very experienced guitarist & I bought this as a travel guitar and also as a starter guitar for my grandchild. For the average buyer and/or young user, this guitar will require some changes for it to be immediately useful. Specifically, out of the box, many frets will buzz and the guitar will require string heights to be raised & bridge/intonation adjustments to become playable. I would also recommend changing the strings for a set of .11's, as the OEM .10's will not stay in tune well. Once those adjustments can be made, the appearance and the playability of the guitar is really pretty good, especially for a youngster or for travel. The little guitar looks awesome! The paint & finish are very nice. From the looks perspective, it will motivate a youngster to play it and is lightweight & comfortable to play. From the Pickups perspective, they are good enough for a young novice player. It has a five way switch and even coil splits the PUPS. However, for someone who knows the difference and wants tonal quality, you will find little change in tone amongst the 5 PUP settings, with maybe the exception of the Bridge PUP. As a guitar "snob" I have changed the Pickups, Pots, Capacitor, and Nut to make this a really good little guitar. I also have a Squire Mini, which is also a good starter/travel guitar. The Squier requires some of the same string & intonation adjustments out of the box too, but the Squier pickups can at least get a pretty good Strat sound without changing out the Pups, I also think the Squier has a better feel to it that the Ibanez. But the Ibanez looks COOLER! Great starter & Travel guitars though!

I was needing a guitar to use when traveling, but also wanted a short-scale guitar to add to my arsenal. This little guitar does the job just fine. It has a good feel to it, and plays well after doing a little bit of work to it. You'll probably need to cut the string slots in the nut down lower as they're too high from the factory. This causes some of the strings to get pulled a little sharp when you fret them. After filing them down it eliminated the pulling sharp issue, and pretty much eliminated the issues of it going out of tune as it was played. Also, when I replaced the strings (I put Elixir 10's on it) I used 0000 steel wool to buff the frets smooth, and oiled the fretboard as the wood seemed a little dry. I also used a little Carmex (yes, the lip balm) as a lubricant in the nut slots and string trees. I may still add roller string trees to it, but it's doing pretty well now on the tuning after the work I did on it. Everyone seems to think the tuning machine heads are what causes the tuning issue, but I believe it's actually the nut slots. I may still replace the tuning heads if I decide I want something a little more smooth, but the stock ones work fine.

This is a pretty cool small Guitar, it had a shorter neck and even the frame of the Guitar it self is smaller and light weight. My 6 year old son wants to learn how to play guitar so I bought him this Ibanez. Over all the quality is great, how ever I got some intonation right out of the box and it took me a bit to adjust it and also adjusted the strings to be as low as possible to the fret board with out it making any vibration buzzing sound from the strings hitting the frets. Other then that, as long as you don't press on the strings too hard it won't go out of tune which is why I gave it 4 stars out of 5. I bought a 36 month warranty on it to have peace of mind, it's something I haven't done in a while.
