Ibanez AZ2402 AZ Prestige Electric Guitar - Apple Green Metallic

The reviews are all over the place for this guitar. I will try to cover everything important about this axe. The features are high end. Beautiful smooth roasted maple neck. Slick polished jumbo frets. Solid bridge. Well cut nut. Lots of tone options. Medium powered pickups. It does check all the boxes and is worth the coin. Many reviewers say it needs a setup and it does. The guitar was shipped from Japan. Why are people shocked it needs a set up? This is not a big deal. Overall very good instrument that plays easily and sounds great. Some items people may not like: the neck is a big fat C. Kind of like a classic fat Fender neck. I love it but for some it will be cumbersome and uncomfortable. The locking tuners are unique and take some time to figure out. They aren't the usual locking tuners with the thumb wheel under the neck. I had to check YouTube for a tutorial about how to use them. I personally prefer the thumb wheel locking tuners. They are simpler and quicker. The pickups are similar to a hot PAF. They are not very hot nor are they tight enough for modern metal. I may change them out for something hotter and tighter to make this true shredders guitar. Buyer beware! The switching system is complex. My guess is you'll have to know your stuff to switch out these pups for something else without screwing up the switching system. Finally the neck heel is shaved off a bit for easier smoother access to the higher frets. But it's still a lot of wood in the hand even with the contoured neck pocket. Overall I really like this guitar and believe it's worth the money just understand what this is and isn't. It's a very specific feeling and sounding guitar. Some will love it like I do and some will not.

Wanted so love this guitar so badly, but came with multiple QC issues. Fretted out on multiple frets even with the action raised to a point that was almost unplayable, even with a nice bow in the neck the fret issues persisted. For that price tag it shouldn't need fret leveling done. Returned it within a week. Really disappointed because every other spec on this thing was perfect.

I researched all the features of this guitar, compared it to other guitars in the same price range, and this guitar has features that I mostly found on guitars for at least $1000 more……the value is pretty good. Titanium saddles, the exclusive Seymour Duncan pick ups, the switching, the super gorgeous neck and frets, the super adjustable locking tuners, it's just a really solid guitar. All that said, I'm pretty good at setting up any guitar……and working on them, and it took me a little bit to get the nice super low action, but I got it good enough that I bought a second one. I write and play all kinds of music with my band, like an unprofessional Between the Buried and Me, so it really does play any music anyone would want, but if you're not good at setting it up…..setting the radius on the saddles, truss rod adjustments…the whole deal….if you're not good at all that then it might not be the guitar for you. I've owned tons of nice guitars, and these are right up there with the nicest ones I've owned.

Not a fan of the fenderesque c neck. That being said, lots of excellence in tonal variation and construction. Too bad I had to return this nice looking and quality guitar due to a design flaw in that the roasted maple is darkened so as to not see the black dots in low light.

Just as you see on most online reviews. Neck usually needs some work for fret buzz and fret level. If you want to buy a guitar that plays well out of the box...this is not it. I wish Musicians Friend did inspections like Sweet Water. If a process like this was added there would be buyer confidence and that is important because obviously it's not their fault, however I believe that should be a part of service when buying a guitar. Paying for a major setup or problems is def a headache esp when you have to wait for the product in the mail and then take it to a luthier or tech. Do not get me wrong, this is a beautiful guitar. I had to pay to get work done on it and since then it plays amazingly. If you do your research, you will see that it is a common problem. I just took the risk and was disappointed from both the manufacturer and seller for the mishaps..

The GC description says 15.75-inch neck radius. The manufacturer's information says it's 12 inches. (305mmR)
