Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

The Ibanez Artcore AF95 electric guitar features a fast 3-piece nyatoh/maple set neck and stunning linden back and sides, plus a spruce top with F-holes. Your fingers will glide across the AF95's silky ebony fingerboard. Loaded with a pair of Super 58 humbuckers, this full-hollowbody guitar produces the rich, complex tone that jazz guitarists crave.

Super 58 Pickups Provide Legendary Tone

The Artcore AF95 is equipped with a pair of Super 58 pickups, Ibanez's original humbucker design that jazz greats like George Benson, Pat Metheny and John Scofield prefer. These moderate-output pickups deliver a warm, balanced tone with excellent note definition—perfect for jazz but versatile enough for any genre. Combined with the AF95's all-hollow construction, the Super 58s produce a pure, resonant voice that sings.

Nyatoh/Maple Neck Offers Familiar Feel

While the Artcore AF95 has an elegant vintage vibe, its 3-piece nyatoh/maple neck provides thoroughly modern playability. The neck's slim profile and medium frets feel instantly familiar to most guitarists. Nyatoh, an Asian hardwood, gives the neck a rich midrange and great sustain. Maple reinforces the neck and adds crispness to the tone. The result is an instrument with timeless looks and feel but contemporary performance.

Linden Body Resonates With Warmth

The AF95's linden body contributes to its lush, resonant tone. Linden is a lightweight European wood known for producing instruments with a warm, balanced sound and crisp attack. When combined with the spruce top and F-holes, the linden body helps the AF95 resonate freely, enriching its acoustic-like voice.

Walnut Bridge Anchors Strings With Clarity

A walnut bridge anchors the strings to the Artcore AF95's top, transferring their vibrations directly into the body. Walnut is a hard, dense wood that produces a clear, focused tone. On the AF95, the walnut bridge helps each note ring through with definition, even when playing complex chords. A VT14 tailpiece, made of zinc and brass, provides rock-solid tuning stability to complement the walnut bridge.

I love this guitar for it's playability, appearance, tonality(due to Super 58's). Great smooth jazz tones and good for rockabilly and country.

I have been looking for a guitar like this for a while. Mainly looking for a guitar that can deliver full warm and clear tone for jazz, blues and country. Having a scale length of 24.75" and a neck pickup positioned at the end of the fretboard at the 20th fret was also important in order to get the tone I wanted. Photos of the dark amber finish in concert with the gold hardware and ebony board with a full compliment of block markers don't show how good it looks. Just some minor leveling of some high spots on frets was all it needed to play great as I play the entire fretboard. The Super 58 pickups it comes with are very good. The sweep of the voliume and tone knobs are user friendly, consistent and get to the sounds I want with a great feel.

I play in my church's worship band. When I saw this in the store, it was love at first sight. It plays as good as it sounds. I can play just about any style with this guitar. In our band, normally another person plays acoustic. But, if needed, I can play this guitar acoustically. I use my Les Paul when I need a big fuzz rock sound, but I can get close with this one. The big plus for me is how it holds tune and sounds great on the more mellow songs. When combined with my Zoom pedal, I can get just about any tone I need. I also love the pickups!

Love the feel of the neck and the different sounds you can dial in due to the two humbucker pickups.

There aren't many great options if you're looking for warm classic jazz tones in the under $1k budget, especially at most guitar shops. I had tried the Guild Savoy, which is a beautiful instrument, but it doesn't really approximate those Gibson L5 humbucker tones. I stopped into my local Guitar Center this week and grabbed it off the wall for a spin. The playability was instantly comfortable and the stock flat wound strings are a great touch. Plugged in, I immediately heard the warm jazz tones I have been searching for on the neck pickup. Having the Super 58 pickups is another great stock feature. I also found the middle and bridge settings to be really usable sounds. The aesthetics are perfect in my opinion. The sunburst looks gorgeous on the spruce top as well as the back/sides. I think the non-figured wood has a really classy understated ellegance while the gold hardware and tortoise pick guard provide a little flash. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this guitar and highly recommend trying one out!

All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 6.5 - 7.0 lbs.

the description says that this guitar is made in Japan. Is that true? Usually $600-700 guitars are made in china or indonesia.
