IK Multimedia iRig 2 Guitar Interface for iOS, Mac and Select Android Devices

Description
The IK Multimedia iRig 2 guitar interface brings your guitar or bass into the digital realm, letting you practice, perform and record on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or select Android devices. The iRig 2 builds on the original with a 1/4" output jack, so you can plug into your amp—perfect for using with AmpliTube to sculpt your tone. An adjustable gain control ensures the best sound for your instrument and device.
Practice and Perform Anywhere
The iRig 2's 1/8" TRS output connects to your mobile device or Mac, so you can use professional software like AmpliTube to access virtual stompboxes, amps and cabs. Headphones let you practice in private, while the 1/4" output hooks up to your amp or PA system for performing or recording. A switch selects between processed and clean "thru" signals, allowing your device to act as a tuner or recorder.
Customizable Tone for Your Setup
With an input gain control, the iRig 2 provides the optimal signal level for your instrument and gear. Electric guitars, basses and line-level sources all work great with the 1/4" input. The iRig 2's universal 1/8" TRS output ensures compatibility with iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, Macs and select Samsung Android devices. Users with Samsung Professional Audio devices can access the full AmpliTube experience.
Take Control of Your Creative Process
When paired with software like AmpliTube, the iRig 2 puts a virtual pedalboard and amp collection at your feet. Sculpt your tone before a gig or create presets to use live. Record loops and riffs with a DAW like GarageBand. The iRig 2 opens up a world of creative possibilities for practice, performance, and recording on the go or at your desktop.
Rugged and Road-Ready
With an all-metal enclosure, the iRig 2 is built to handle the rigors of music-making on the move. It comes with a mic stand mount and Velcro strip for securing to mic stands or gear. The iRig 2 provides an affordable, ultraportable solution for integrating your guitar into the mobile technology at the heart of modern music.

Works amazing with GarageBand!
I bought this on a whim thinking I could use Amplitube to model different amps while recording. So I'm not here to review amplitube, but I will say the app is horrendous and will give you a bad experience with this little guy. Sorry for the Android users (works only with Samsung phones), but this thing is a gem with GarageBand! No extra noise or squelching (unless of course it's not plugged in all the way, in which case don't wear headphones!) But with GB coming with several different amp models, it serves its purpose well. So for you iOS users, shell out the $5 and get a full feature demo tracker with different models. If I want to play on a tweed, boom it's there, if I want something more metal, got it. Maybe something a little vintage fat Orange sounding, yep that's there too and everything in between. Android users, be patient maybe Cakewalk will come out with a compatible app for you.

Never buy this or IK Amplitube 5 if you plan to use Android.
Software hates Windows and is a messy install. You can ruin your Windows 11 email or regular user profile if using OneDrive Free. The installs are flaky and uninstalls are brutal to remove it completely. No phone support. No Windows support abilities that they can use to help you. It's as if every individual thing you get to install was designed by different teams. They "dont understand" IT questions. If you intend to go that far anyway and also add the iRig HD 2 there is NO ANDROID compatibility. It seemed a nice thing to add, as I have used IK before (no longer will work in Product Manager), but after a torturous 2 weeks of trying it all got returned. Nice sounds I guess if you go iOS. That OS has an app. Too bad they are not good at this yet. Use REVO to uninstall it all if you need to. (IT guy and composer).

This makes the 1/8" headphone Jack on an iPod into an audio input. I use it for live streaming. It's cheaper than an Apple camera kit and doesn't require a USB audio interface. This replaced a unit that was stolen.
