Great Acoustic Harp

I am a 40 year Harp player. I am Also currently a gigging harp player. The Crossover is an out of the box fantastic Harp for acoustic play. Closest thing to a custom harp out if the box I've ever played. Having said that I would also add that I have been playing Special 20'S ever since they first came out in the 80's and have always swore by them. I was yearning for the old wood comb sound that the Marine Band I learned on in the 70's gave. So I took the plunge and got a whole set of Crossovers. After about 10 gigs with them I found the sound to be shrill and lacking bottom end when amplified. I play through a blues deville 4 x 10 modified for harp. Again for acoustic play, Crossovers are the best I have found. But, I am going back to Special 20's for mic'd up playing because the low end and air tightedness of the sealed covers with no side vents, like the Spec. 20 has, is better sounding, deeper, fuller sounding to me. No harp will make a mediocre player sound great, that is true. It takes practice to develop tone and technique but the Special 20 is al a good harp player needs. My 3 cents. Dar Walker

Disappointed

I have been playing for only a couple of years. I have 4 or 5 Marine Band harmonicas in different keys, but this is my first Crossover. It sounds like a duck call. Obviously, there is something wrong. Unfortunately, Guitar Center won't take back harmonicas apparently even if they are defective. I feel that this one must be defective, but I am a bit miffed with the lack of interest in getting it exchanged, and I don't feel that I should have to send it to Hohner (on my nickle) and wait for a repair.
