Even coverage of the range, excellent power for the money
Most of my gigs rely on smaller equipment, for convenience and to provide more coverage at less volume (the Kustom PA-50 is a great example). I needed an inexpensive, lightweight active cabinet to flesh out the bottom end in some scenarios and have been pleased enough with these that now I have four. They get used in corporate gigs, banquets, small clubs, and once in a school. No steep learning curve when I have to loan them out, and so far they've performed well even in a little weather (and one color fight). Great value, great sound.

"For the money"
I was so excited to come home and unbox these bad boys!!! I'm a part time guy. Just starting back, so I needed the "just starting back" type of speaker. 5 things I like 1. price 2 Weight 3 ease of use 4. they look good 5 nice range of sound. Plenty of highs and lows. Dislikes? 1. they are noisy. even when I didn't have anything plugged into them there was a SLIGHT buzz or Humm on 1 and a much more noticble buzz on the other one. The Buzz wouldn't go away . stayed constant even when the volume gain and tone controls were all the way turned down. 2. the volume just isn't what they claim it is. Two of these as Mains Might fill a medium sized club. But as Monitors they will be sufficient 3. cheap knobs that feel loose.

This amp is very portable (small, lightweight) and the sound quality is actually pretty good. Obviously, I wouldn't compare this to JBL, Bose, QSC, etc, but it definitely sounds better than what you might expect at this price point. That being said, I would not buy this speaker at full price. The only downside of this speaker is that isn't very loud. At 140W RMS, it isn't loud enough to keep up with amps that are cranked or a loud rock drummer. I use it for jamming with some friends at low-moderate volume, we never use earplugs. I have also used it for karaoke and it worked well. So I would recommend this speaker, but only on sale. I bought this when it was 50% off (haven't seen it at that price since) and I think it was worth it. But if you're willing to spend $200-$250, I would look into other speakers.
Decent speaker, but not powerful enough

Overall this speaker didn't work out for us, it didn't have enough power, we maxed it out and it was clipping. We decided to go with something else.

I'm using as a monitor for my Hx stomp. Use one at church and have one at home and they sound great.
Better than ok for the price, but not up to QSC or EV levels

When these go on sale, they are a steal. Sound is more than acceptable in relation to the price, just don't expect these to compete with higher end speakers. They work well for practices, as monitors, and relatively low volume applications. After my son "borrowed" mine, I bought more.

I bought this to compliment my Harbinger MLS1000 array system as either a monitor or for supplemental power and range for outdoors. My first gig with it was outdoors and it worked beautifully. It passes along a true sound from the main and the connection is a breeze using a standard mic/cannon cable. Couldn't be happier with it so far.

can a guitar or mic be plugged in to the Harbinger Vari V1012 12 in. Active Loudspeaker and be used as an amplifier?
Yes it can, however, it won't sound similar a guitar amplifier due to the shape of sound the speakers produced. I'd recommend this type of setting for an acoustic guitar.
