My Hangstrom is just what I wanted for a different sound!

I wanted a Hangstrom for years as a hollow body guitar to use on certain recordings of my songs with a distinct sound. After watching several YouTube videos I contacted a Guitar Center representative who helped me place my order and Have the guitar shipped to my local store in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Amazing Guitar

I use this for my band, school, and solo work; it's an awesome guitar! My only complaint is that the strap button (behind the neck) cannot fit a strap lock screw (it would not go in all the way). However, I was able to simply use the washer trick on both buttons, and everything was fine. I love this guitar!

Musician's Friend offered an attractive price at just the right time, and after a little research I decided to take a chance. Reportedly, Elvis played one during his 1968 comeback tour, and if it was good enough for him, it would surely be good enough for me. So far, it exceeds expectations. I plays smoothly and sounds great. It is also a great looker. It is of the same genre as the Gibson 335. It so happens I also play a Gibson 355, and the Hagstrom is comparable at a fraction of the price. Looking forward to many gigs with it!
Disappointed In Quality

I purchased the Hagstrom Viking Tremor and was very disappointed in the finish quality of the guitar I received. It looked like an amateur luthier was practicing on this build. Totally unacceptable, so I returned it and upped the ante for the Schecter Corsair Bigsby. The Viking I received had unfinished globs of clear beneath the binding at the bottom edge of the fretboard near the neck pick-up and looked awful. The clear-coat was overdone around the neck binding especially near the body. Whoever buffed the chrome plated tremolo base burned the chrome plating right off the edges. What a nice guitar this could have been, but they must have just been practicing skills on this puppy. They also damaged the binding by getting too far into it (buffing) and melted it which left rough discolored texture in some spots at the edges. The guitar did not look anything like the Viking Tremor on Hagstrom's web-site. Bait and switch is what I got. If you hold the guitar up to an angle, you can see sanding marks under the paint along with dull spots in the finish where the neck meets the body top right at the neck pick up. Nothing can be done to help this guitar, it's a quality control problem. Also, the pick-up black plastic trim rings are about as cheap looking as you could get, and the F holes were a dull black plastic rough like filler maybe glued in the body with the white binding not very uniform. My Epiphone 339's quality destroys this guitar. The pick-up's are four conductor wired so why not add coil splits? Sorry to report, there is absolutely nothing deluxe about this guitar. I can't imagine another would be much better and I'm not waiting a month to find out just to send another one back. I got excited about this to receive a big let down. Hagstrom needs to fix these problems if they want to sell guitars.
Really Satisfied great choice.

Recently bought a guitar These and believe me I'm super happy and pleasantly satisfied with the purchase . I greatly enjoy their softness and color of their sound. It is definitely an excellent product and a very good price. Quisera buy the Bass but for now I can not. 100% recommendable.
Hagstrom Deluxe Tremar (Black)

Beautiful fit and finish. If you have not held one...the body is less than 2" thick and 16 1/2" wide at the widest part. The overall height is 41". It has a very nice sound and the overall quality is top grade. Playing the guitar is easy. The three way switch is out of the way and the dial controls work well. It came from the factory perfectly set up. Proper alignment and string height. Minor tuning was all it took. The Viking Deluxe Tremar is a little on the heavy side at 8.8 lbs. The body edge band is ivory colored. The neck edge band is ivory colored also (not white). The head has a mother of pearl double edge band and insignia. The neck has inlaid mother of pearl fret markers. You'll love the chrome finished hardware on the shiny black guitar. It has a very prestiges look. If you are standing when playing...all is well. However to sit down with a wide body is impracticle. There is no good way to get comfortable. The only thing of consequence is that the volume controls could use a ground wire, there is occasional static noise when adjusting. I thought there would be a care manual or parts manual or service manual with contact information shipped with the guitar...no such luck. Even a warranty card would be nice. Maybe Guitar Center doesn't have a quality control department demanding these items. If I were buying a guitar to start out with as a beginner I would not purchase this unit because of it's size and weight. However everyone will be able to enjoy: the rich quality sound, the very playable neck, the ergonomic tremar, the quality design and the extra, extra long sustain. One other nice thing about the hollow body is that you can get a full rich sound while practicing without the amp. Your sleeping wife will appreciate this. I'm playing the Viking Deluxe through a Vox modeling amp. If you want to play smooth jazz, Pink Floyd or 60's Country... this is a beautiful combination.
