collapse expand iconDescription

The D-20, formerly known as the D-25, is a dreadnought acoustic guitar built with solid mahogany top, back, and sides. First introduced to the Guild line in 1968, this model features a rosewood bridge and fingerboard, bone nut and saddle, and an extremely light satin finish that allows this guitar to truly sing.

The D-20’s modest appointments include a vintage style rosette and Guild’s peak logo inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the headstock. Each D-20 comes with a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with a hardshell case. Includes hardshell case.

So happy with this guitar!

I have wanted a Guild since the mid 1970s. Decided to go looking for one today at our local music store, and this one spoke to me the moment I looked at it and and ran my fingers across the strings and over the sound hole. It was the sound and feel I had always wanted and knew that a guild would be. The resonance and deep rich tone struck me right away. I ended up getting the acoustic electric version, and couldn't be happier. As soon as I got home, I plugged it in with headphones on. Incredible sound and little dialing in needed. It's going to be my recording guitar and practice guitar for sure. Two more huge plusses with this beauty: it stays in tune, even when you use a capo, and the frets along the side of the neck do not need to be touched up. The case is very nice and the built in humidifier is great touch! The guitar is beautiful, well made and just feels so good in my hands. And I love the old-school look, right down to the bakelite-style tuners! So pleased and so glad to have a Guild finally after all these years. It's everything I expected and knew I wanted.

I bought in Jan 2022. Fresh off the California line. The sound board has sunk around the sound hole, and the bridge is now bulging. The action is shot, it sounds awful. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem, but the guitar is done. Such a disappointment. Had high hopes for this guitar. The bracing is just so light, I think anything higher than a light gauge string and your risking it.

I had the D-20 for a month and absolutely love it. It has a wonderful tone and the playability is perfect for me. The guitar is lightweight with quality craftsmanship. It also has one of the more attractive hard shell cases I've seen with acoustics. Love this guitar!

Best of both worlds. Mahogany richness with Sitka clarity. What an amazing guitar. Punches way way above its weight class. Kind of felt sorry for the GC salesman who owns a D15. When he heard this he had wished he had purchased this instead. Haha. Limited production gem.

I use this guitar for folk song accompaniment and bluegrass picking. It has a rich full sound and delivers great volume and tone in all three ranges (low, mid, and high). It is a great looking guitar (I chose the All Mahogany Vintage Sunburst version), and it sounds even better than it looks!

When I was young, I bought a new Guild D-25 mahogany soundboard. Loved the guitar. Unfortunately, it was stolen several years later. When I saw that Guild was making the guitar again as the D-20, I just had to get one. The quality of the build is fantastic. Plays so well. Stays in tune like no other. I like the mahogany sound better than spruce. The highs are bright but not harsh. What is so amazing is the dynamic range of this guitar. Light and tender passages just soar. Strumming is perfectly balanced. Loud rock/blues playing is thunderous. Can't imagine a better guitar at any price!

Fantastic guitar. If you're after throaty, cave like echoing sound, you have to check it out. I was looking for hog dread and went trough Martin D-18, Guild D-40 up to Martin D-18 Authentic and alll hog Martin D-15 and Guild D-25. Was still missing this massive, soft roar sound. Till D-20. Beats all the above for me, hands down. Ren Ferguson clearly did a brilliant job (again).

I was under the impression that the D-20 had a nut width of 1 11/16, but the description says 1 3/4.

According to guild's website it's 1 11/16, I'll request to have that updated.
