Groove Tubes
Description
The Groove Tubes Gold Series GT-12AX7-R Preamp Tube is an older-style Russian-type vacuum tube with strong tone and a slightly edgy tone. This newer tube from Russia has slightly brighter and lower gain, quicker compression than the GT 12AX7. Great for most Fender amplifiers, especially lower gain Fender-type amps.

I can't speak for anyone who got one of these tubes with the sticker on it, since the one I got had the screen printing on it; however, the product number on the box my tube came in matches the one listed. The pre-amp gain on my Rivera Hundred Duo Twelve was fizzing out, so I popped this into my V1 position and, crikey, it made a world of difference in tone! Very pleased I purchased this tube. Again, I can't attest for anyone who got the tube pictured above but the one I just popped into my amp sounds awesome.

I should have payed more attention to the other review. 12AX7-R?, NOT!, the sticker didn't even hide the orignal stencil, SOVTEK 12AX7 WC These tubes are adequate at best, sounding somewhat dull and flat, mids and highs sound muffled. If your looking for an inexpensive tube on a tight budget, the SOVTEK at 9.99 is a good deal. But to be relabeled as something it's not, and to charge more than twice the price 21.99? a ripoff at best. Don't waste your money on Groove Tubes.

This was all they had at a local Guitar Center, so I got it. It was this or the Chinese version. Easy to install, decent price. Opened up my Fender Roc Pro 1000 head. It's a hybrid head with just the one 12AX7. I was looking to beef up the sound a bit, the original Fender Groove Tube was in it still from '97. After I put everything back together, the amp had a warmer grit to it. A smooth distortion, not too heavy, but more so than before. A bit cleaner sounding as well. I'm going to replace it eventually, but for the time being, it's alright. I'm not too crazy about it, but it made a slight improvement. All in all, I can't complain, but can't rejoice either. So take it as you may. Luckily they're cheap enough that you can experiment.

I just purchased (3) of these tubes for my Budda Superdrive 18 amp. I had a gift card from last Christmas for Guitar Center and needed some new pre-amp tubes. Groove Tubes were the only 12ax7 tube that my store stocked, so I figured I'd give them a try- contrary to my prior opinion on Groove Tubes. The sales associated persuaded me to step up to the gold series 12ax7-R. As soon as I pulled the first tube out of the box, I notice that the sticker for "Groove Tube" wasn't properly placed over the encryption on the original tube stating it was a "Sovtek 12ax7-wc." A tube less than half the value! Groove Tubes is taking cheap 12ax7s, stamping their logo on it and selling it for more than double the price!! Don't make the same mistake I did!

I have a Fender Deville 2 12" and those tubes work great in my amp, good sound, good frecuencies, is a very good option for this amplifier.
