Gretsch Guitars

collapse expand iconDescription

Like a ’60s invasion, the Gretsch G5422G-12 Electromatic Classic hollowbody double-cut 12-string electric guitar serves up a true Filter’Tron voice for classically lush chime and jangle. It features a laminated maple body with vintage-inspired perimeters and refined arches, as well as trestle block bracing to help reduce unwanted feedback. By increasing rigidity and contact between the top and back of the body, the trestle block design also results in the sound having a faster attack with more focus, snap and sustain. A Classic “C”-shaped maple neck offers a more comfortable playing feel for improved playability and performance, and is topped with a 12”-radius laurel fingerboard.

Coupled with FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups, the G5422G-12 Electromatic Classic's voice explodes with huge full-bodied punch, classic chime and enhanced presence. The versatile upgraded controls include a master volume with treble bleed circuit, master tone, individual pickup volume controls and a 3-position tone switch for further tonal sculpting. Additional features include oversized bound f-holes, multi-ply body binding, a smaller late-'50s G6120 bound headstock, sealed die-cast tuning machines, GraphTech NuBone nut, historic pearloid Hump Block inlays, a secured Adjusto-Matic bridge and a Gretsch G-cutout tailpiece.

I bought this guitar online and right out of the box it was set up perfectly. All I had to do was tune it up. It sounds beautiful and is very easy to play for a 12 string compared to my Rickenbacker 12 which has a different sound to it but is harder to play because of the narrower neck.

It has a great sound and is very comfortable to play right out of the box. Holds tuning well. Taking the pick guard off to open up more sound as it covers half the sound hole. Well made minus the end lpin.

This is the best 12 string electric hollow body out there for the money. When set up correctly, this compares to the Rickenbacker 360-12, which is now about four times the money! I know, since I had one. Gretsch has really nailed these 12 strings. The versatility of this guitar is great for studio recording or just playing around in your room. The pickups are clear, and the chimes and jangle are better than I thought. Real happy with this guitar. Planning on getting another one.

  • I would certainly recommend this product

When compared with the competition at 3 times the price this guitar wins hands down. The action is very low, very well made and the pick ups sound really great. I took the pick guard off which opened up even more sound. Simply put a great guitar with great sound.

Really love this guitar. I plug mine into a small vox tube amp, with a light overdrive pedal and a compressor pedal set to extra squeezed and it chimes, shimmers and, yes, it jangles. Oh does it jangle. I assume most people want this guitar because they really want a Rick but don't want to drop 2.5k on a guitar. With the right amp (I recommend a vox for any electric 12), overdrive and pedals, you can get this thing sounding as Byrdsy as any Rick (and yes, I've owned one).
