I didn't expect much from this guitar when I bought it. I was in the store and the color caught my eye. The fairlane blue looks even better in person. As I dug deeper into playing it, I realized that it plays better than most of the guitars in this price range. The fretwork was great, the neck was the right size and it just felt good. The pickups are ok, probably good for now. But I will be swapping them out sooner or later. Overall Gretsch build a bare bones rock machine that most people can afford.

I'm a singer who needed a cool rig to play rhythm. This guitar fit the bill. I tried the Epiphone Les Pauls and SG. I tried all the Squires. This guitar felt much better to me and it isn't the same guitar everyone has. Fun guitar. At this price it's amazing. Get it on sale.

I have to admit the finish on this guitar is gorgeous. However the action on the guitar needed adjustment. When the guitar arrived I tuned it up and right away noticed too much fret buzzing. I had to raise the stop bar action for the low strings. After that I noticed the intonation was off so I had to adjust the special bolts on the side of the stop bar to get the intonation as close as possible. (The intonation is still slightly off) The pickups are low output but sound decent. Overall, it's a decent guitar.
