Graph Tech TUSQ XL Fender Style Slotted Nut

Description
Finally, the breakthrough you've been waiting for. Now you can have it all - the great tone of TUSQ, classic good looks AND permanent lubrication. If you love the look of a vintage white nut, but you keep going out of tune when you bend strings or use your tremolo, then TUSQ XL is just what you need.
TUSQ XL is designed to boost guitar tone and performance. This precision engineered nut is made with a specially formulated material which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and brings out the hidden harmonics and richness in every note. It is based on the highly resonant TUSQ man made ivory, but is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of the guitar.
If you have an acoustic or vintage guitar, you owe it to yourself to hear the difference a TUSQ guitar replacement nut, saddle and bridge pins make. Compared to standard materials such as bone, Micarta or Corian, you'll hear more harmonics with every note you play when you use the TUSQ replacement nut on your guitar.
TUSQ is a proprietary material which is precision engineered under high pressure and heat. It is specifically formulated to deliver the right frequencies with the optimum transfer rate to the top of your guitar every time. Because of the way the TUSQ replacement nut is made, it is a consistent material that is rich in tone and harmonic content.
TUSQ has quickly become an important tone performance tool for some of the world's most renowned guitar manufacturers, luthiers and playing professionals. The TUSQ replacement nut has rich tone and sustain, without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ guitar nuts, saddles and bridge pins are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body. Acoustic guitars come alive. Electric guitars will get a brighter sound and increased harmonic content.

Small part......BIG difference in Tone!
Not only do GraphTech TUSQ XL nuts offer an improvement in tuning, but also a noticeable improvement in both the tone and feel of the guitar. I have been putting GT TUSQ XL's on all my guitars and this Fender version I added to a beautiful Sunburst FSR TBX Boost Strat I saw one day and just had to have. This nut comes pre-slotted for what is roughly a 10-46 gauge set but will fit 9's nicely as well. If you go any larger you're gonna need nut files or a guitar tech to do it properly. A poorly cut nut can drive you insane. It is a HUGE part of the guitar's tone. The tab on the back will have to be filed down for an even lay across most fretboards. Some older Fender versions with smaller radii will need the tab so that's why it's there. The minute you string up with one of these installed it's like playing a new guitar. It adds harmonics and volume. Dynamics improve, and your pick attack becomes more pronounced. The strings also take on a new "springier" feel, it's hard to describe but is a very nice improvement which aids in smooth bending. If you're hearing pings at the nut when you use the tremolo arm, your nut is cheap and you should upgrade to a permanently lubricated TUSQ XL. I am so happy I found these things. I don't know what we ever did without them!

Didn't even come close to fitting.
I'm an experienced musician that had worked on all my own guitars for years. This should have been a pretty close to drop and play senerio. My existing nut from the factory was pretty curved and much thinner at the treble side. The Graphtech didnt even come close to fitting correctly. Its advertised as a fender replacement. I honestly would have been better with a straight up nut blank than this.

#sweepstakes I bought this to replace the nut on a MIM Fender Tele. I was able to get it onto the neck, but still took it to a trusted luthier for a final fit—and I couldn't be happier. Much better than the plastic that was there before.
