Graph Tech

Description

Graph Tech's String Saver Saddle for Tune-O-Matic Nashville Post 2000 Gibson is made with a unique combination of materials made to enhance tone and dramatically reduce string breakage.

How do they work?
A string resting on a metal saddle binds and locks the string in place. As the string vibrates, it stresses the string on a very specific point producing metal fatigue and then string breakage. Each String Saver saddle is impregnated with Teflon, the slipperiest substance on earth. The Teflon in String Savers eases the grip between the saddle and string spreading the stress over a greater portion of the string just enough to drastically reduce string breakage. Teflon is 500% more slippery than graphite and is impregnated throughout the String Saver material, so its lubricating properties will never wear out. For string breakage reduction, the difference is dramatic. Strings will last and last, no matter how hard you play.

What do they sound like?
Metal saddles have a pronounced 2kHz treble spike that dominates the tonal spectrum. Like all the String Saver Originals from Graph Tech, the String Saver Saddle for Tune-O-Matic Nashville Post 2000 Gibson has a more balanced tone with sizzling highs, full mids, and big, open lows. You will also notice an increase in sustain by up to 25% over brass saddles and 15% over steel.

String Saver Originals are made entirely of Graph Tech's String Saver material and as described above will give you a more balanced tone than steel saddles. On first listen, some people believe that the top end has gone away. However, once your ears get used to the new sound, you'll start to hear all the added harmonic content that String Saver saddles reveal. All that's missing is the 2kHz spike, but what's added opens up a whole new world of sonic possibilities!

Helps prevent string breakage. Going to try as I have broken b string and a g string during two different live performances. Easy to install.

  • Excellent product once I got a set that wasn't broken.

Ordered these and had them shipped to my local GC store. When I went to pick them up, one of the saddles (still in factory packaging) was broken in half and the other half wasn't even there - how does that happen? Salesman ordered me another set and they arrived intact. Had a little trouble removing the original saddles but once I was able to remove them, the new ones fit fine with a little sanding of the bottom. They have made a noticeable difference in ease of tuning (strings no longer hanging up on the saddles) and the sound is fine.

  • Hard to install.

Improved sound from stock Gibson saddles. Be ready for a hassle installing. Bridge wire clips are positioned such that adjustment screw is misaligned when attempting to insert into receiving orifice. Pressure is necessary to align properly, and installation takes longer than expected. Also, wire clip must be pushed down with force to expel screw and can easily be damaged during that process. Saddles are thicker than stock, which could affect intonation. GT bridge is slightly deeper to allow more travel, but saddle adjustment screws face pickups, not tailpiece.

I have a 2013 Gibson LPJ that just wouldn't stay in tune. Changed out the tuners to hipshot locking tuners got a little better. Changed the nut to a graphtech xl got even better, but it would still go out of tune. So finally I bought the graptech string saver saddles and it just stays in tune perfectly. Now I can do big bends in a solo with no worries of it going out of tune. I can jam for 4 hours without worrying about it going in and out of tune.

Are these electrically conductive? I have a string-through schecter. I'm concerned about grounding issues with the saddles being the only ground point. Thank you.
