Description

The BurstBucker Pro Bridge humbucker enhances the vintage "edge" of Gibson's popular BurstBucker pickups with the added feature of an Alnico 5 magnet. The BurstBucker Pro's characteristic sweet harmonic complexity and crystalline clarity derive from its slightly unmatched bobbin windings. Alnico V magnets are used in place of the traditional Alnico IIs, yielding fatter, meatier tone with more drive and attack. Provides classic Gibson "Patent Applied For" tone with a hint of attitude. Extra noise reduction keeps things quiet even with a high-gain rig.

BurstBucker pickups from Gibson Gear now give guitarists a choice of three replica sounds from Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups-the pickups that give the '59 Les Paul Standard its legendary sound. The BurstBuckers-all with unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, like the originals-represent the variations found among vintage Gibson humbuckers.

I have a set (both bridge and neck) 4 wire conductor Burstbucker Pro's, in my Les Paul Standard. If there could be a "do it all" pickup, this could very well be it. Great articulation, plenty power, and wide ranging tone. You could spend thousands experimenting with this or that, and probably not do any better. Satisfied....

I originally had a set of Burstbucker Pros in my Les Paul Standard, and ended up swapping them out. It was primarily the bridge pickup that didn't mesh with me. The best way I can describe it is too much high mids, which can sound harsh to the ear (for an amp, I use an EVH 5150iii combo, and for recording I use a Line 6 Helix, and my preferred tones range from Jimmy Page up to Van Halen levels of gain). I ended up swapping them out for the classic DiMarzio pairing of a Super Distortion at the bridge and a Super 2 at the neck, and was very happy with the results - the tone was tighter, more pleasant, with the right amount of output (the BBs output was good too, so I'm not complaining about that... it was more the tone). All of that said, I don't think these are horrible pickups and with some parametric EQ'ing, I could get some tones I was relatively happy with (especially with lighter gain settings), but I also factored in that the DiMarzios I ended up with cost less than 1/2 the price of the BBs (around 40% of the cost). That's what brought my rating down from a 3 to a 2.

I have a Gibson Les Paul Classic and I replaced the 500t bridge pickup for the BurstBucker Pro. I must say I was not impressed. To me it had to much treble and was mid rangy. I went back to the 500t, if your looking for a vintage tone go with 57classics or BurstBucker 1 and 2 but remember it's all about personal taste.
