My Squire Jazz bass had two tuning pegs with loose paddles! They would buzz audibly during any playing and none of the repairs I tried were successful. They would be tight until I needed to tune the string, then they would be lose again. The new tuners were a great matching fix.

I replaced the Sire tuners with these Grover 142's and they are much more accurate and solid. They fit perfectly to match the Sires Diameter however I did have to drill 4 new screw holes for each gear with a very small drill bit and applied a bit of vaseline to each screw and then mounted to the headstock securely. The nice part is that all of the original screw holes were covered by the new gears backplate and the old screw holes are nowhere to be seen. The 142's are a bit beefier than the cheap stock Sire tuners but no problem since I wear a thick strap to avoid a small amount more neck dive. Sonically I noticed a slight more depth and sustain as the 142's vibrate off off the headstock in a very pleasing manner.

Could I put these on a Squier bronco bass? I would have to drill 4 holes, but would it work?
