Furman

Description

The Merit Series Power M-8 Power Conditioner has eight switched AC outlets in the rear panel to power and protect all your equipment with up to a 15-amp load. The M-8 protects your electronic audio equipment by combining high voltage varistor (MOV) surge and transient suppressors. The fast-acting supression circuit quickly responds and clamps transient voltages to safe levels. The power supply has an RFI/EMI interference filter that works to prevent noise from fluorescent lights, certain dimmers, radio transmitters, and similar sources of electronic pollution from contaminating the AC line and from there, leaking into sensitive audio, video, or computer circuits. NRTL/TUV listed. Rackmount.

I've had a Furman PL-8 for over 10 years now, and it is a rock solid piece that has never given me problems. Power conditioners being what they are, I've never given it much thought, and that is a good thing. I needed the lights on the PL-8 for my live rack, so just bought an M-8 for my home rack, where I never had much use for the lights. Since I've had it for only a few hours, I can't speak to its power conditioning, but I was really unimpressed by the case. The top panel bends in when you pick it up, so I won't be able to set anything on top of it. And the outlet in the front is loose. BTW, I LOVE having an outlet in the front, so I gave it a 3.5 on features for that reason. If the M-8 safely powers my gear for the next decade, I guess it will have done its job. But with the case and outlets as poorly anchored as they are, I am not confident it will. Not at all.

We were recording songs for our band but we were getting outside RF intereference every time we tried recording any instruments. I have gone to many music stores and tried out many different equipments including direct box, upgrading existing cables but no luck. Finally went and got the Furman M-8 and that did the job!!! It totally cancelled any type of noise. Simply Awesome product!!! if you play live you need this. If you record you need this. If you have a Home Audio system you need this. If you have any equipment that involves sound and video, buy this and you will see and hear the difference. Good Luck!!!

I have several power conditioners, and I have to say that I have always been impressed by Furman products. The company?s power conditioners have never let me down. I use the Furman M-8 in my studio for connecting my guitar gear. The unit has always been quiet and it never caused any operating problems for any of my gear. If you need a power conditioner you can trust I would recommend this unit.

The Furman M-8 is a very inexpensive way to make sure all my guitar equipment is safe from power surges and spikes, not to mention just plain old dirty outlets. I got one of these right before I went on tour and I am glad I did. We played some ghetto places where I wasn't so sure of the quality of the outlets. I didn't have to worry, because if something did go wrong, all my stuff was plugged in to the M-8. It can also last multiple surges without needing to be replaced, unlike cheaper conditioners. It is definitely a must have if you don't want to take a chance in your amp blowing in a run-down house show, an old venue, or thunderstorm. Great buy.

You get what you pay for. It does a very good job of blocking power surges, but it does not block interference as described. But hey, the price is right. It's cheaper than any other surge suppessor. Plugging in a Randall Warhead 300W head, a Peavey XXX head, a Boss NS-1, GE-7 and an Audio-Technica wireless system and it is still noisy. The NS-1 is the only saving grace with my set up. It has 8 - 110 outlets on the back, but if you have a "wall wart" you have lost 2 more outlets because of the lack of spacing. The front has 1 more outlet next to the power switch. This is a cool feature, but rarely used. Especially in a rack mount.
