Knew it was going to be a classic first time I saw the ad
I bought the original 60's blackface cosmetics, with silver-gray grill cloth, Super Champ XD model 2 plus years ago and am very happy with it. Having used many classic amps both big and small, expensive and affordable since 1965, to include 100 tube watt stacks, I just knew that this was going to be a classic in its own right with a lot of features, great tones, and terrific bang for the buck in a very light and portable format, since it was modeled on the old Champ from years ago in concept. Also, it is just so affordable, both my purchases were $270 to $300 including a footswitch on the first model. The price is just unbelievable, but it is because of the Chinese labor. Still the quality and reliability are high. I used it in the Memphis TN area for 27 gigs with a Southern Rock, Classic Rock, New Country band and it truly performed like a "Champ" and is still working great! The clean tone is comparable to a Deluxe Reverb due to the 6V6 power output tubes, and the 16 amp models on the switchable second channel give you all the rage, overdrive, fuzz, distortion, breakup you need, or even other clean amp models and an acoustic tone that is reasonably credible. The line out is very good, cabinet voiced I would say, sounds great through a PA. The 15 tube watts give you plenty of onstage backline volume, but saves your hearing as the main volume goes through the PA front of house. We loved it in the band, it was very manageable for our stage volume, but roared through the mains. Just a great little light 24 lbs. tube amp that has most of everything I need for a player like me. I've sold several big heavy tube amps since and plan to sell a few more still. I recently bought this very sweet blond model and love its cosmetics! My plan is to just have these two Super Champ XD's, a few effects, and my luscious tone Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb (CVR) when the smoke clears. But, I probably will end up using this much more than the CVR for actual gigs, since it is so light, portable and full featured, with minimum investment. I will probably buy any used ones I find along the way also, but at 300 bucks you can afford 4-5 of these for the price of one more expensive amp. Depends on your economics and ear, but these are making my life very happy after an expensive divorce, max bang for the buck!

Noisy amp
I bought this amp to have a small combo around the house and maybe record with. Problem is thwe amp is noisy. The sound of this amp is first class, way better than i expected BUT, I can hear a noise that is sort of a cross between a wistle and rattle at all volumes. It seems the problem is the digital effects. This makes it worthless to record as the noise is piked up. Fender needs to do their homework and clean up their amps.

Got my amp and was impressed with the sie and weight as I amused to carrying big stuff back and forth to church every Sunday. After playing through it for a couple of hours, I found it is OK for low volume use, but cranking it up even half way rattles the speaker to the point it kills the sound. Would not reccommend it for anu "gigs" unless it is a low volume one. Good for practice, but can't use it for anything else.

In this price range you cannot find another amp with this much flexibility. I watched many youtube videos of this amp in action with a host of different guitars and really feel this is the #1 choice in this category. I play a Fender Fat strat and a Washburn with EMGs throught this and this amp brings out the best in both.
Better amp for the money?

After trying this amp out at Guitar Center with multiple guitars and comparing it to Voxs and Marshals I am convinced that the Super Champ XD represents one of the very best values in tube driven home and small venue amps available today. Each time I try a combination of new voice and effects settings I hear the great tone that we all know from some of the great recordings we all enjoy. The clean channel is truly vintage Fender tube. I have a Marshal 412 cab that I have connected to the speaker connection and this baby just keep on going. When I connect the line out to my Fender Princeton Chorus and match the outputs I am sure the neighbors are grooving right along with me. Check this amp out before Fender starts selling it for what it is really worth.
Tone tone tone

I couldn't be happier with this amp. It cops a basic Fender Deluxe Reverb type of tone so well, and at bedroom volumes! I play a Heritage hollow body and a G&L ASAT semi-hollow (tele), and it makes them both sound like they should. I even thought about getting a second one and doing small gigs with the pair of them. Instead I bought the new Supersonic 22 which is an even better amp. But for what you pay, what you get with this is just a lot of great fender tone. I don't mess with the amp voices too much. I get a bluesy bassman sound on one setting and just leave it there. Clean channel for my jazzbox and bassman/tweed for my ASAT. Perfect! If you're looking for lots of different distortions I can't say whether this will meet your expectations, but it delivers for me where it counts. I haven't tried to really crank it so I can't say how loud it will go with the band. But I didn't buy it for that. That's what the bigger amps are for.

I heard about this little 15 watt giant about 3 wks ago. GC didnt have any in stock so was unable to try it out. But after reading rave reviews on the internet I was sold. Ordered one and 3 days later, Nirvana! Super clean tones on voices 1 & 2 and all that other F/X stuff was just a plus. Didnt have time to check out everything so I brought it out to our Monday Blues jam and w/ just my boss OD/Distortion pedal this thing absolutely killed and no louder than 5 all this behind a full band. A sea of open mouths greeted me as I left the stage. Theres not enough words to describe how pleased I am with this baby. Well worth the money and then some.
Serious Little Amp

For the past two years or so, I have been playing solely on a NOS Blues Jr. I decided that I wanted to get a second amp that was completely different. I decided on the VOX Vt40+. I figured since it did have a tube and a lot of effects, it would be a good choice. The first one arrived with a broken speaker magnet (didn't even look to be dropped), and the one I exchanged it for simply sounded awful. According to the Vox forums, I'm not the only one that noticed the god awful hiss that accompanied most single notes on most of the amp models. One more return, a couple of days later and now I have my super champ XD. Just taking a good look at the construction of this thing in comparison blew me away. In lieu of all of the bells and whistles, you get much better tone. Instead of a headphone jack, you get a line-out. There are trade-offs but the tone and feel of the amp more than make up for what could be considered its simplistic nature. It has most of the tube goodness of the blues Jr. with a little brighter sound. Very little extra noise is produced by the DSP when using the models and effects which is the way it has to be for me. It didn't take long for me to decide that I highly recommend this amp
