Upgraded Clapton Strat
submitted4 years ago

I removed the mid boost and Fender Vintage noiseless pickups from my Clapton Strat and replaced them with Fender Custom 54's, Mojo pre-wired pots and a new single ply white pickguard. Put the old Clapton configuration in a box in case I didn't like the new setup or if I sell the guitar. It was a somewhat straightforward job, still took a couple hours to "build" the new pickguard. The final result was incredible, clear and bell like tone, a tone I always thought Strats were known for. Really excellent upgrade over lifeless vintage noiseless pickups, IMHO. I love the Fender custom 54's and would highly recomend them to upgrade any Strat. (Except, the G string is a bit hot or loud due to the raised polls and 9.5 neck radius)
Bought accidentally. Good accident.

I did not intend to buy these pickups, however, after looking into them I did not return and had them installed on my Strat. Excellent tone, original and full. It has the classic voicing of the Strat, and would highly recommend for almost all playing styles. Added suggestion would be to also install a 250k tone knob to allow more sounds.
Great Pickups

I purchased these for my MiM strat along with upgraded pots, switch, and wiring. These sound great. So much better than the stock pickups. I get increased sustain and great harmonics. The difference in configurations too give me 5 distinct tones and they are all very classic strat sounding. The out of phase 2 and 4 slots are my favorite but they can all hold their own as well. the most significant improvement was the bridge pickup over the stock. The original sounded very shrill no matter how much I adjusted it. Now it sounds great. Has the perfect amount of breakup in it. I love these pickups.
Awesome Strat

First of all these pickups are a little expensive, but they are well worth it. All the desired strat tones shine through. GREAT for blues and strumming chords. I put mine through a fender fm65 amp, then used every pedal and these pickups sounded awesome every time. I even used it through a boss metal zone and it rocked. If you want to make drastic upgrade to your srat these are an excellent choice.
Upgrade your strat

I put a set of these in my Mexican standard stratocaster and the difference in tone is like night and day. These pickups deliver that classic strat tone that is perfect for blues and classic rock. If you are going to be playing any kind of high gain metal, you will get hum, but for my purposes(mainly blues and jazz) these are perfect. With these, it is really hard to tell the sonic difference between my Mexican strat and the higher end American strats. I would definitely recomend either these pickups or the Texas specials if you are looking for great strat tone.
