Fender Blues Deville Harmonica E

The Harmonica was ordered on the Internet at guitarcenter.com website, effortlessly and was received in my mail in new, excellent, clean, working, condition, as advertised.

I have owned 3 Fender harmonicas. -blues deluxe -midnight blues -blues deville My favorite was my midnight blues. It was loud, and had a great tone. I was unimpressed with this blues deville, to be honest. The 6th hole, which is crucial for playing blues, gets stuck constantly, and that really bothers me. It will be silent, andn if any sound comes out, it's an off-key loud wail. The materials might be better than the deluxe, and it has a better tone. However, I find the deluxe to be way more reliable than my deville. This is very likely an issue with my own personal blues devile, and is probably a fluke. Personally, I'd rather go with the midnight blues.

(part 2) ... I wuzz only getting started ... wearwuzz-eye? oyeah, when i bought what i thought wuzz a defective 'minor' harp. NATURAL (instead of "minor"" key. After the shop-owner 'corrected' me (Toots Thielmans "brasil project 2" is playing rite now in my house. Can you imagine that?) I kept the A-natural thing ... and now, months & years later I can play 4 songs! Bob M's "Eye schoot the sherrif" / my wife's version of JJCale's "Cajun Moon" / the intro to "Rhapsody in Blue" / and the theme to Gilligan's Island. Since then I've inadvertently (?) purchase a couple of Lydian harmonicas. To, perhaps, my credit, I can (& continue to) play nothing even remotely listenable with those harps. On the other hand, when the aliens finally arrive (if they haven't awlreddee) this could be the method we communicate with those amoebazz. (3) okay, we're now at the ACTUAL REVIEW. I've bought a FENDER harp before, and was pleasantly surprised about the quality and dependability. I've recently purchased two BLUES DEVILLE's and though I haven't had them but for a few weeks, they ARE REALLY GOOD SOLID-SOUNDING INSTRUMENTS. (Ask me about these after a few months -- I am (reasonably) confident that they'll "hold up" ~

If time and space allows, I'm gonna write a story. (Unrelated, but Toots Thielmans "Brasil Proj. #2" is on the radio rite now. Whoa ...) Okeh, i've only been messin' 'round w/the harp since 1968. I'm a slow learner. I couldn't play single notes for many months. During this time I watched a 6-year-old kid pick up one of my harps and go up-&-down the scale, blowing individual reeds. I knew my learning curve was steep, and probably not apt to improve much anytime soon. However, since my initial "I'm gonna learn the harp and keep with it" decision, I've actually learned a few things. (1?) If you're stumbling around in a high-altitude skiing town at 20degrees below 0, and jammin' along w/a friend for a while -- if you put that harp in your pocket and still wander around outside -- well, the following day if you try to play that harp, don't be surprised if ALL the reeds broke the night before due to the (inevitable) bits and mini-swamps of spittle 'n such which (again inevitably) accumulated around and below each reed -- and, due to the ambient atmospheric temperature -- ALL SPLIT -- ... I have not played any length of time outside when temperatures are like that ever since. (2??) Well, I only made this mistake for the first couple of years after I started to play, but (is there anyone here WHO DOESN'T IMPLICITLY KNOW THIS ALREADY?) ... yes, I would have a snack of dry granola or any kind of nuts and then play my harp. I'd like to think that the nut-or-cracker bits lodging in amongst the reeds BEHAVIORIAL CORRECTION would have occurred earlier. (3) there are TRULY WEIRD HARMONICAS OUT THERE. I bought a harp in a NATURAL (not 'harmonic') key from a store, played it, I WAS CONVINCED I HAD BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE HARMONICA. I went back to the store, the manager pointed out that the case was clearly marked "natural minor." Prior to that I had believed that "minor was minor" -- and that there was no sub-categories. Nice looking harp, with performance to match. I play a lot of one-hole notes , and this blows/draws a crisp, clean note..brighter than many of my harps. Bends just fine out of the box. Comfortable in the mouth. Recommend for the clear, bright tone (and a pretty lil' harp).

First "professional" harmonica I've purchased and it sounds great. Fun to play and won't break the bank.
