collapse expand iconDescription

The Fender '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb tube combo amp brings coveted vintage Fender tone to a new generation of guitarists. Rather than merely replicating the iconic Vibro Champ, the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb has been enhanced to make it ideal for rehearsal, recording and even intimate gigs. In place of an 8" speaker, this combo is equipped with a 10" Celestion Ten 30 speaker for fuller tone. And in addition to vibrato, this combo is packed with a premium digital hall reverb for bathing your tone in the perfect amount of ambience. Housed in a high-quality birch plywood cabinet, the Fender '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb is ready to be your lifelong musical partner.

Legendary Fender Tone and Style

The '68 Customs have become an extremely popular amp series for guitarists seeking classic Fender sounds along with tasteful modifications that resonate with today's players. At just five watts, the original Vibro Champ was renowned for quintessential Fender tremolo, tube sparkle and grind at a manageable volume. The '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb improves on this classic amp by adding lush hall reverb and using a larger 10" speaker for enhanced low end. These additions make this little wonder ideal for rehearsal, home recording and even small gigs.

Bigger Speaker, Bigger Sound

Rather than the original 8" speaker, the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb is equipped with a 10" Celestion Ten 30 speaker, providing punchier lows and fuller tone overall. The Ten 30's larger cone area and stiffer suspension result in a speaker that handles more power and produces bigger tone than a standard 8" speaker. Combined with the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb's 5-watt output, the Ten 30 speaker gives this diminutive amp a sound that belies its compact size.

Reverb and Vibrato for Vintage Vibe

In addition to Fender's legendary tube vibrato, the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb includes lush digital reverb, allowing you to add as much or as little ambience as you like. The reverb has three modes: Plate, Room and Hall. Plate and Room provide subtle ambience, while Hall mode washes your tone in spacious, dramatic reverb. Use reverb and vibrato together or independently to craft your perfect vintage-style tone.

Simple but Versatile

Like the original Vibro Champ, the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb keeps things simple with just a single input, volume and tone controls. But its reverb and vibrato take this streamlined amp into versatile sonic territory. And at just five watts, the '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb provides cranked tube tone at home-friendly volumes, making it ideal for everything from practice to recording.

Deliciously rich sounding

I use this amp for practice but wouldn't hesitate to take it out for performances. The sound quality is excellent. I'm not a fan of Celestion speakers- they "bark" too much for my taste. I replaced the stock Celestion with an Eminence Cannabis Rex-a much mellower sounding speaker. The reverb is digital. I'd prefer a tube reverb but that would probably raise the price. This isn't a stadium shaker but if you want great sounding amp, this is it. Bottom line, I'm happy I bought it.

Great Amp, If... A Word of Caution

I love the 10" speaker, love the reverb, trem is tube powered and great, great clean tones can get mean when pushed, and a very useful 2nd input for a little more headroom... think of the second input as a built in attenuator, allows you to turn up the amp at lower output. Has all the typical Fender sound you'd expect, looks great, and plays well with nearly all my pedals except maybe a germanium fuzz face... The bad: I went through two of these amps as each one had a high pitch rattle from the power tubes when the volume was pushed above 4-5. Very noticeable. I thought it was a one off, went to a different store, bought another and had the same issue. I reached out to Fender and still haven't gotten a response. I didn't want to go to a repair center because I shouldn't have to take a new amp there. I just bought a new output tube (6v6) swapped out the stock one and that fixed it. Cost me an extra $45 to fix a new amp that clearly had a bad run of tubes. However, the amp was good enough for me and my needs that it was worth it to me. But keep this in mind. Those components are not the highest quality and it's not a cheap amp for what it is.

This amp is amazing! After watching 100 videos on it, then getting to purchase it... it sounds like a dream! With out even knowing you would think it is 100 percent tube!

If I don't buy the optional footswitch shown misleadingly in the product photo as if it were included - is the reverb on without the footswitch? Is the vibrato(speed/intensity) on without the footswitch? Is the optional footswitch required to access those functions?
