The better I get at playing, (I'm still a noob) the more I do changes-of-pace and change-of-direction in my picking...and ALSO the sooner I end up dropping the pick. Finally, I figured I'd just get at least 15 brands/types that advertise on GC as being superior when it specifically comes to GRIP. Within 5 minutes of comparing, I narrowed it down to two. One was the CLAYTON "Cork Grip" with the cork ring glued to one side. A definite improvement. But then came the STAR PICKS at .73 mm. At first, nothing seemed special...even though it actually has a patent number on it. I kept waiting for "the other shoe to drop" as the expression goes....but it NEVER happened! I never have dropped one yet. I have no idea why a guitar pick would have a patent, but I will tell you what I eventually figured out over the course of 5 continuous days, a bunch of contemplating, and not a single drop yet: It's not just the hole on the fat end...although that's a key part of it. It's also the 10 TEETH. What happened is that the 'pads' on each of my index finger and thumb DO bulge into the hole a bit. And then what followed is that whichever direction I am either pushing or pulling the pick, at least 2 of those 10 teeth are ALWAYS to a degree BITING into the finger pad skin somewhat and someplace because the TEETH are IN A CIRCLE around the edge of that hole. Even when my pick slides a bit off-center for a second, it still doesn't drop, and all I've needed to do is to manipulate with my other fingers to instantly push/pull it back into place...without missing a beat! There may well be a problem with the way I naturally tend to grip a guitar pick. But for now: PROBLEM SOLVED ! ...and that's good enough for me. If pick-grip interruptions are getting in the way of your natural rhythms, you owe it to yourself to invest a few bucks and see if you have your own idea of why Star Grip Guitar Picks are PATENTED. Do they deserve it? If so, why? Another benefit, even if a minor one, is that the odd shape of the hole-with-teeth-in-it makes them instantly easy to spot if you have them laying around and mixed in with other types/brands of picks. The same applies to the solid, bright colors they come in.

The Picks were bent and can't be bent back straight.They also seem a little bit flimsier than the older Orange Picks I used tio buy in the store.Not reap happy since I had to also pay $5.00 to have a single pack of picks shipped that were nit up to par.

Ever since I first tried the Star Pick that's all I have used. Great pick, very durable, and the star hole truly gives more control and purchase. Yellow is my favorite but I keep a few other weights on hand for interesting effects.
