Nice head. A little more ring than I expected. Overall after muffing it sounds great, and It's bulletproof.

Very dry yet punchy. Not melodic. Less nuanced but adequate. Great stick definition. A prog rock / elect. sound. Can be tuned more loosely while sustaining playable tension.

Great head. Super heavy, loud, and, just as described, durable. I've had it for 6 months now with at least and hour of practice daily and there are no dents. There is a smooth spot where I hit, but that's expected. Still sounds great and I expect it to last at least another few months. Will buy again!

I have used the K series heads for rock drumming since the nineties. Thought I might give this a try since I like some of the other heads Evans has out. The weight is pretty similar to the K series so it looks like it will last a while. The K series has a little bit of a higher pitched snap to them which might be a reason more drummers don't go for those. I've always just learned to like the sound of them. This Evans head is definitely a more damped crack but still sounds pretty nice. I'm still trying to get used to it but I've got near 20 years of history with the Ks to overcome. I'm using this on an old Tama Rockstar metal snare. Have never had a problem with the extra tension.
