    I have one particular snare that this head just seems to need - it's a little more open and live. Great head though. I combine this with a 300 series bottom head and it's great.

    These heads aren't for me. I'm switching from Remo Pinstripes and for once I was really happy with those. They worn down and I wanted to try something new. The G14 are loud, and that's fine, but without any rings, layers, thinker film, the heads ring too much. I just can't seem to tune them the way I want to. I bought Pinstripes a day later because I miss the sound of my drums already. Maybe I need more time with the G14's but for now they aren't for me. If you want some loud heads, these are it. I heard a few previews on some youtube sites ( Evan's dont have samples of these for some strange reason ) and thought this is what I wanted. I might be keeping with Remo for awhile.

    I purchased these for 12" and 13" mounted toms and a 16" floor tom as resonant heads and used the Evans Hydraulics as batter, looking for a dark, metal-ish tone. It made me happy enough, but I wasn't amazed. I just recently bought a new drum kit, and bought a whole new set of heads. Still using the Hydraulics, but this time as the resonant and the G14s as batter. After maybe an hour of tuning the entire kit, I was amazed with the sound I got. So, as a metal drummer, I really suggest these heads.
