    First off, it that it makes turning so easy. You don't have to find a tone at each lug. Turn the lug while tapping the center of the drum. If too tight is will dampen. If too loose, it will doppler. Doing this will find the tonal match of the drum and bottom head. It is loud and cuts through the mix. The ring it makes is not apparent is loud music but is perfect in soft music. This replaced an Evans E2 which lost all outer dampening rings. This coated G12 head requires no dampening what-so-ever. It is perfect.
