EVANS

The EVANS EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 8" delivers balanced attack and sustain with ease of tuning. EVANS' Sound Shaping Technology provides pre-EQ'd tone for drums of all sizes. Two plies of 7-mil film and an Edge Control ring work together to dampen overtones and enhance low-end punch. The EC2 SST series lets drummers shape a broad tonal palette.

Sound Shaping Technology Optimizes Tone

Evans' patented SST tailors the EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 8" to the dimensions of any drum. Varying the density of the built-in damping ring produces full, resonant tone for each size. Unlike heads lacking SST, the EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 8" provides balanced attack, sustain and tuning regardless of drum dimensions.

Two-Ply Design Delivers Controlled Resonance

Two plies of 7-mil film give the EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 8" durability and controlled vibration. The film dampens excess overtones while allowing fundamental tone to ring through. Attached to the underside, an Edge Control ring further refines the drum head's voice by absorbing frequencies that could muddy the overall sound. The result is a drum head with a broad tuning range and a clear, focused tone.

Versatile and Road-Ready

With optimized attack, sustain and tuning, the EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 8" suits any musical style or venue. Its two-ply, 7-mil film construction also makes it rugged enough for touring drummers. An ideal choice for drummers seeking resonant tone and versatile tuning in a durable drum head.

Love At First Hit?

its true... i fell in love with these heads the first time i gave em a hit. I've always been partial to aquarian heads. something about the really deep tones have always appealed to me as a metal drummer. but for some reason ive always had trouble getting the deep tones to cut through the rest of the band. i literally solved that problem when i bought these evans heads. deep, perfect overtones, awesome tuning derability, and loud. I play a birch, Tama Starclassic... and i fell in love with my kit again once i put these heads on. Phenomonal product by evans. i dont see myself going away from these heads any time soon.

"Used" to play only Remo

Tried it on an 8" tom and it's way to dead. I use the drum primarily for an accent tom, rim-shots and such, so I want it to ring and this head is to controlling for that. I use EC2's, on all my other toms, 10, 12, 16, and they sound beautiful. Nice attack, good sustain and they control dissonant overtones very well. I tune my drums mid-low tuning, and they sound great, but the 8"er was just dead with this head. Went with G1 single ply head and bang, there's the sound I was looking for. The set is a Gretsch Renown, with no muffling. I know sometimes this head selection is hard and expensive so I hope this helps.

These are the best heads, IMO. They're my go to. Evans are warmer than remo and these dampen just enough of the overtones. They last for me and I can hit pretty hard. I can't say enough about these heads.

  • Legit drum heads

This head is great if you are wanting to remove some of the annoying high end overtones and still be able to utilize a reasonable amount of tension.

  • Excellent rebound. Durable. Low sustain. Great for hard rock

These heads are great! Very solid punch. Being a metal drummer, I was skeptical. But I liked them. Now I run the Evans Black Chrome. Even better than these!!!
