Description
The Ernie Ball 2618 Magnum Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings, featuring .012, .016, .022w, .032, .044, and .056 gauges, these strings are ideal for guitarists seeking heavier tones and optimal tension for dropped tunings. The nickel-plated steel wrap and tin-plated hex-shaped steel core produce full lows, clear mids, and cutting highs with sustain that seems to last for days. Whether you're chugging metal riffs, grungy rock progressions, or sludgy stoner jams, the 2618 Magnum Slinky strings will unleash your guitar's most thunderous tones. And with Ernie Ball's state-of-the-art Element Shield packaging, these strings stay fresh for maximum tone and intonation right out of the pack.
Thick Gages Provide Tight Tension and Powerful Tones
With gauges ranging from .012 to .056, the 2618 Magnum Slinky strings provide tight tension and full tone for dropped tunings as low as drop C. The .022w third string and .056 low E string produce a thick bottom end with clear note articulation. Palm mutes boom, power chords roar, and single notes sing with harmonic richness. Whether you prefer drop D, drop C, or even lower, these strings will keep your guitar in tune and intonated for rumbling rhythm work or searing solos.
Nickel-Plated Steel Wrap Creates Sustain and Clarity
The nickel-plated steel wrap provides a balanced tone with articulate mids, sizzling highs, and sustain for days. The wrap's slight texture also helps produce a raspy, gritty edge when overdriven, ideal for high-gain rock and metal styles. Despite its brightness, the nickel wrap never sounds harsh or shrill. And when played clean, notes bloom with a harmonic richness and chime.
Hex-Core Wires Enhance Low-End Response
At the core of these strings are tin-plated, hex-shaped steel wires. Hex-core strings produce enhanced low-end response with a focused midrange. The tin plating also helps reduce string noise and squeaking. Combined with the nickel wrap, these hex cores yield a tone that's powerful yet never muddy. Your low E and A strings will thunder with authority while still retaining note clarity and definition.
Element Shield Packaging Keeps Strings Fresh
Ernie Ball's Element Shield packaging uses an airtight barrier to keep air and moisture out. This helps your 2618 Magnum Slinky strings stay as fresh as the day they were made. When you open the pack, you'll be greeted with strings that intonate accurately, hold tuning steadily, and produce maximum tone right out of the gate. For guitarists who demand power, performance, and reliability, Element Shield packaging is a game-changer.

I play a 24.5" scale guitar in drop A in a punk band. I'm hitting these strings hard and fast for the whole set. They stay in tune, that wrapped 4th string is amazing for tuning stability. These strings don't break because they are so thiccc. If I play just the low string I can make it sound djenty but that's not really my thing, just a fun sound to make sometime. Sam Ash NEVER has these in stock, don't even bother looking there.
