Description

Ernie Ball brings its signature Slinky feel and tone to 8-string players with the Ernie Ball 8-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings. These strings are precision manufactured in California to exacting standards for guitarists seeking a balanced and versatile tone. The nickel-plated steel wrap and tin-plated high-carbon steel plain strings produce a bright, crisp tone suitable for lead and rhythm playing. With gauges ranging from .010 to .074, these strings handle both intricate melodies and heavy low-end with ease. Ernie Ball 8-String Slinky strings promise durability and consistent performance for guitarists pushing the boundaries of 8-string playing.

Expansive Range for Melodic Mastery and Power Playing

With gauges from .010 to .074, the Ernie Ball 8-String Slinky strings provide an expansive tonal range for exploring the melodic and rhythmic possibilities of 8-string guitars. The lighter plain steel strings on top allow for articulate, singing lead tones and intricate melodies. The heavier wound strings on bottom provide a thick, distorted tone for aggressive power chords and djent-inspired riffs. This combination of light and heavy strings gives 8-string players the versatility to craft layered arrangements with contrasting tones.

Signature Slinky Feel and Balanced Tone

Ernie Ball is renowned for their Slinky strings, praised by guitarists worldwide for their smooth feel and balanced tone. The Ernie Ball 8-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings provide this signature experience for 8-string players. The nickel-plated steel wrap and tin-plated high-carbon steel cores produce a tone that is both bright and warm with a touch of distortion. This balanced tone works equally well for lead, rhythm and ambient playing. Combined with the slinky, low-tension feel, these strings make extended range playing feel familiar and inspiring.

Precision Manufacturing for Consistency and Durability

As with all Ernie Ball strings, the 8-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are precision manufactured in California to the highest standards. String windings are tightly controlled to produce consistent tone and intonation string to string and set to set. The nickel-plated steel also provides protection against corrosion for enhanced durability. For 8-string players, consistency and longevity are essential, and these strings deliver on both fronts.

A New Generation of Extended Range Playing

With their signature slinky feel and balanced tone, these strings make the 8-string guitar more approachable and inspiring. Not bad Ernie Ball...

For an 8 string pack, these sure are heavy gauge considering they're going on extended scale instruments. They are great for my 7 string though, as i just take out the .064 and string it up for standard A. Same clarity as the skinny top/heavy bottom, but with 2 giant strings on the added strings

They're not the best...

These strings are okay for the price, but I've had several problems with them. 1) This is not a sealed pack, so when I bought it the .010 had rusty patches right out of the pack and maybe the .013 too. They're in individual folded paper sleeves all together in an open-air fold-over plastic sheath. 2) They're NOT for your standard extended-range/long scale 8-string. Short scale guitars only. These fit my 25.5" guitar nicely, but when I tried putting these on my Agile Interceptor 30" scale guitar, they were probably 5"+ too short. Didn't even reach the nut, much less the peg (partly because it's a string-through, tune-o-matic, long scale, and reverse-inline, so lots of extra string is needed. Also, on the paper sleeve, it tells you that it's a 30" taper, which means that the string gets narrow after 30" to fit through the tuning peg. On many extended-rang/long scale guitars, the taper will begin before the nut, which you do NOT want. You want the string to be the same diameter along the entire vibrating length. 3) The tension balance is all out of whack. The gauges are okay on the last 6 strings for 25.5" scale. A little too tight from the .054 down (I can imagine on your typical long-scale 8-string they'd be way too tight), but I drop-tune the low strings to E and A, and the .074 is totally floppy and smacking the frets and the 0.64 could definitely be thicker.

Ernie Ball makes a good basic string and I have used them for years. I always buy Daddario strings first but if not available in my gauge set I will buy Ernie Ball.

I've used slinky strings for years and they've never disappointed. These are no different. My only issue, which might seem weird, is that I wish the heavy bottom packs were a little more available without having to order online. #sweepstakes #8string #multiscale

Purchased two packs in house, under $20 shipped. Delivery was on point. About a week later I open one pack to find the 10 was corroded. I'll avoid making assumptions, for the 2nd pack was fine. Strung 'er up, set the action, aaand, presto. Just like I remembered, good 'ol Ernie Ball...
