Description

The Ernie Ball 2728 Cobalt 7-String Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are engineered to maximize output and clarity for the contemporary rock guitarist. The latest innovation in string technology from Ernie Ball, Cobalt strings provide an extended dynamic range, incredible harmonic response, beefed-up low end, and crisp highs. Cobalt is the most magnetically active string alloy, attracting pickups more than any other string for unsurpassed power and definition. The 2728 Cobalt 7-String Regular Slinky set is ideal for rock and metal players seeking a new voice for their 7-string axe.

Stronger Magnetic Relationship Boosts Output

Cobalt provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than any other alloy. This results in higher output, fuller tone, and increased sustain compared to traditional strings. The 2728 set's custom Cobalt formulation is tailored to the needs of 7-string guitars, delivering tight, punchy bass, focused mids, and shimmering highs for modern hard rock and metal styles.

Lasts Longer While Retaining Brightness

Engineered for longevity, Cobalt strings retain clarity and brightness long after other strings have dulled. The 2728 set features Cobalt's patented alloy technology, which resists oxidation and corrosion while maintaining tonal integrity through hours of play. Say goodbye to lackluster tone and frequent string changes.

Extra-Soft, Silky Feel Aids Playability

Cobalt strings feel soft and pliable under the fingers, allowing for fast fingering, wide bends, and complex techniques. The 2728 set's Cobalt core is wrapped with Ernie Ball's ultra-flexible Regular Slinky nickel-plated steel, providing an extra-slinky feel and maximizing comfort. Shred to your heart's content without fighting stiff, unresponsive strings.

Versatile Set Covers All 7-String Styles

The 2728 Cobalt 7-String Regular Slinky set includes gauges ideal for standard 7-string tuning. With gauges ranging from .010 to .056, this versatile set of strings handles everything from chunky rhythm playing to blazing lead work. Unleash the full potential of your 7-string with Ernie Ball's 2728 Cobalt strings.

These are my strings now

As a long time D'addario user, I bought these just to try something different and I'll never switch back! The feel of these strings is what initially got my attention and I have grown very accustomed to. They don't seem to have a break-in period that lasted as long as other brands and they last A LOT longer than the strings I switched from. These have become my strings and I wish I had made the change a long time ago!

Magnificent tone... Dusty sensation...

This strings have an amazing tone, but there is always a dusty sensation in your fingertips every time I play them. This sensation have been present since I install the string on my guitar. It's very uncomfortable to make slides with the fingertips on the wound strings and there is noticeable increase of friction on all the strings...

I've always liked Ernie Ball strings, but I can't say that I like the Cobalts. Honestly, the Paradigms are infinitely better.

Ernie ball cobalt strings are awesome! The quality is consistent (unlike some other brands) and the tone is great. I tried them because of a nickel allergy and it is not a compromise in any way- I prefer these over nickel strings in every way

  • I highly recomend cobalt strings

I have tried many brands of strings over the years and found Ernie Ball to be consistently the best of the off the shelf options. When I developed a nickel allergy I found the cobalts to perfectly fit my needs. So many gauges available and they sound amazing.
