Description
The Ernie Ball 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings are designed for guitarists wanting to achieve lower tunings while maintaining string tension and tone. Ernie Ball, a pioneer of rock guitar strings, created these Beefy Slinkys to give metal and hard rock players the optimal gauge combination for drop D and drop C tuning. Made of nickel-plated steel wrapped around a hex-shaped steel core, these wound strings produce a thick yet balanced tone when tuned down. The plain strings are made of specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel for Ernie Ball's signature feel and sound. With Beefy Slinky gauges of .011, .015, .022, .030, .042 and .054, these strings are engineered to handle the lower tunings that shape heavy genres while keeping intonation accurate and preventing fret buzz.
Thick Gages Maintain Tension at Lower Pitches
The Ernie Ball 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings feature extra-heavy gauges, from .011 for the 1st string up to .054 for the 6th string, to provide optimal tension and intonation when tuned down. The heavier gauges prevent the loose, flabby feel of lighter strings at lower tunings, allowing for clear tone and reliable fretting. Guitarists detuning to drop D, drop C and beyond will find these Beefy Slinkys handle pitch shifts while maintaining playability.
Nickel-Plated Steel Produces Full-Bodied Tone
The Ernie Ball 2627 strings are nickel-plated steel, which provides a full, rich tone that projects well. The nickel plating adds warmth and midrange to the steel, creating a balanced sound with present treble and substantial low end. This tonal combination suits the needs of drop tuning, giving guitarists a powerful, rounded tone for rhythm and lead playing. The wound nickel-plated steel strings are wrapped around a hex-shaped steel core wire to produce maximum output and sustain.
Familiar Ernie Ball Feel
Like all Ernie Ball strings, the 2627 Beefy Slinkys provide a comfortable playing feel that responds dynamically to pick attack and fretting pressure. The plain strings are Ernie Ball's signature Slinky high-carbon steel, engineered for maximum resonance and reduced finger drag. Combined with the nickel-plated steel wound strings, the 2627 set offers a familiar, versatile feel for Ernie Ball devotees and newcomers alike.
Built for the Rigors of Rock
As with all Ernie Ball strings, the 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings are precision manufactured in California to Ernie Ball's strict standards for gauge consistency, tuning stability and long life. These strings are built to handle the demands of drop tuning and high-output playing without false tones, string breakage or tuning issues. Guitarists can rely on Ernie Ball 2627 Beefy Slinkys to perform under pressure.

Some of the Best Strings Out There
I love very thing about these strings except for the plain 3rd string. I tune these down to B-standard and they play beautifully on my BC Rich Warlock. Over all one of my favorite sets of strings!

Good Strings
They have a nice tone. They stay tight and full. I used them to play in a metalcore band in Drop C and D standard. They stay pretty tight, but not too tight. In my opinion, they have a better tone than skinny top heavy bottoms for rhythm in those tunings because they're not all loose n floppy unless u like that. They're not made to play in standard tuning. It says "optimal for detuning" for a reason. So, don't buy them for that unless u feel like it. I played rhythm and some leads in that band. No problems and felt good in either tuning. They sounded full throughout til they got too old like any other string lol. My only complaint was that the G string felt too tight compared to B and E plain strings, so the set felt unbalanced, and it was a little hard to get intonate. But, good for low tuned guitars.
