Ernie Ball

collapse expand iconDescription

Gauges 11-14-18p-28-38-48.

Ernie Ball RPS electric guitar strings are reinforced versions of the standard Slinky. A patented winding of bronze wire is tightly wrapped around the lock twist of the ball end. String slippage and breakage are minimized at the ball end where these most often occur. RPS strings last longer and stay in tune better than conventional plain strings. Used on electric and acoustic guitars but, not classical guitars.

All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and most exacting specs to assure consistency, optimum performance, and long life.

Ernie Ball is the pioneer of rock and roll guitar strings. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, and Slash are among the long list of Slinky players.

    LONG Lasting!

These strings are really great. They sound and feel great. I used the regular Ernie Ball 11 guaged strings before, those were alright, they always died out in a matter of hours because I sweat a lot, and by a lot I really mean it. But these strings haven't even started getting dirty yet, and its been weeks since Ive put them on! They're great for any type of music. I also got these because slash had them, haha. They're worth it!

    Amazing when brand new... but...

These strings don't last long at all compared to pretty much everything else I've used. They are the best sounding string, brand new, and hold their tune very well. The problem is... they wear unevenly, and very quickly and throw your intonation in the garbage. I will definitely be going to a different string after my last 3 packs are gone.

    • The bridge on my Les Paul would not move enough

I wanted to set up a Les Paul with Eb standard tuning and I figured I would need a little beefier strings than the 10-46 set that I was using for standard tuning-in E. I was suprised to find that I could not move the A string saddle enough towards the pickups to properly intonate. I put a .036 A string on and after turning the saddle around was able to intonate. Obviously this is no fault of your product or delivery or service.

Ernie Ball strings have been my main choice of strings for over 40 years from the Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009 to the Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20 acoustic strings (med gauge). They never tarnish and have never broken. The longest these strings have been on my guitar is about 4 years and they still played good. They're also easy on the fingers. These 'Reinforced Plain' Strings are preferred by Kirk Hammett (gauges 10, 13, 17, 28, 38, 48...RPS 10 & 11 mixed). So, I thought I'd give them a try and they did not disappoint. They took no time to stretch and get into shape. They go perfectly with my ESP LTD White Zombie guitar......

I have tried Fender,Gibson,Ghs,Elixir,Dean Markley's Blue Steel. I used the blue steel for about the last 5 years because they had really good sound and lasted a long time. But I read the reviews on these strings and thought I would give them a try. These strings are great. The first time I played Sweet Child O' Mine, my jaw dropped to the floor by how good these strings sounded. Just amazing what a good set of strings can do. Distorted or clean they have great sound and all I am using them on is an Epiphone. I'm pretty sure if you try these you will like them. Sorry Dean Markley but I am switching to Ernie Ball Power Slinkys form now on.
