The Epiphone Sheraton-II PRO

An Epiphone icon: Hailed by blues legend John Lee Hooker as "an outdid 335," the Sheraton has been renown for decades for its combination of superior tone and beautiful pearloid and abalone inlay. Originally released in 1959, the inspiration for the "thin-line" or ES Series has its roots in Les Paul's first solidbody guitar, "The Log," that Les built in Epiphone's factory in Manhattan in 1940.
"The Log" was made from Epiphone parts with a 4" x 4" piece of pinewood down the middle. The ES Series is also semi-hollow with a solid center, which makes it more resistant to feedback than a typical archtop guitar.
Inside the Epiphone Sheraton-II Pro: "The Outdid 335"
John Lee Hooker described the original Sheraton as an "outdid 335" for its striking fingerboard inlay, classic shape, and elegant ivory and black binding on the top, back, neck, headstock and f-holes. The new Sheraton-II Pro has the same profile and is made from laminated maple and topped with a bound "tortoise" style pickguard with a signature metal "E" (for Epiphone) and the same classic binding.
The Sheraton-II Pro has a hand-set 5-piece laminated hard maple/walnut 24.75 in. scale neck with a beautiful rosewood fingerboard with block and triangle pearloid and abalone inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a large vintage-style "tree of life" motif "Clipped Ear" headstock. The Epiphone Sheraton-II Pro also now comes with the new Graph Tech NuBone XL nut that is as hard as bone but will last a lifetime without chipping or cracking. Graph Tech molds and engineers each NuBone XL nut for consistent tone and string balance as well as precise string spacing.
ProBucker Humbuckers
The Epiphone Sheraton II-Pro now features new critically acclaimed ProBucker humbuckers. The first humbuckers (often called "Patent Applied For" for the tell-tale sticker found on the back of the pickups) were made at the Epiphone/Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the late '50s and have acquired a mythical status among guitar players. Epiphone ProBucker pickups have that elusive tone because they are made with the same alloy as the originals—18% nickel-silver unit bases and covers—along with Sand cast Alnico II magnets and high quality 4-conductor lead wire. Each ProBucker pickup is also vacuum wax potted to eliminate microphonics.
The Epiphone Sheraton-II Pro has a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker-3 in the lead position. Both pickups also have coil-tapping via their individual volume controls. Coil-tapping allows a player to turn a humbucker pickup into a single coil pickup for endless tone combinations. Each ProBucker pickup's volume and tone control use 1 500K ohm potentiometers along with a 3-way pickup selector with an ivory-colored toggle cap.
Epiphone Gold Hardware
The Epiphone Sheraton II-Pro has rock solid nickel hardware in elegant gold with an unbeatable LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and StopBar tailpiece combo. Tuning is easy and reliable with gold Grover Rotomatic machine heads with a pro-level 18:1 tuning ratio. The Sheraton-II Pro is strung at the factory with D'Addario 10-46 gauge strings.

Another great Epiphone
I compared this to the Gretsch G5420T and the Epi 339 Pro. This edged out the 339 on overall sound and beat out the Gretsch for it's versatility with the coil taps. Overall, I've been very happy with this guitar. Solid build and finish. I will note that the finish on the guitar was much darker than what appears in many of the pics. It is a deeper wine red - almost black in some lighting.

Kind of a let down
I was very excited when it showed up. Gorgeous. tuned it up, (3 or 4 times) in the first hour. Nice sound through head phones. It was night time. I had read the reviews. A few of them mentioned how it was already setup , out of the box. Not so for me. The nut was so tall, that an F was more F#. My fingers kept pulling the High E off the fret board. Hmmn. Turns out the nut was cut a little too close to the the edge. Looking closely, the High E string was right next to the fret bevel. Then noticed the medium jumbo frets were indeed on the jumbo side. I press kind of hard, so when I played this guitar a lot of the notes were wrong, even after tuning The following day, took it to a local park. cool and windy. with an amp. It didn't like temp change or the wind. re-tune and re-tune for an hour. I could not reproduce the great sounds from the headphones of the previous night. I think the really long neck is just weak. Sorry to say, I took it back the next day. P.S. I admit being very picky, but not uppity. My go to guitar is a $300 Ibanez AF81 Arch top.

Fit and finish is perfect, excellent and fabulous. I've been playing for more than 25. Everything about this guitar is right. If the change the logo to Gibson people will pay $5000 and will not know it is Epiphone. Just try it and this web your favorite guitar and it looks beautiful!

Nothing is wrong with this electric guitar. It sounds amazing, it's very smooth, I love the size of it, it big but light. I love playing The Strokes on this guitar. I bought this for my 14 year old son and it's fantastic. He keeps telling me to give him his guitar back because I'm always using it 🤣😂 the picture below or attached to this review is my son. Not me btw.
A superb guitar if you know how to set-up

Loved the looks and feel of the guitar. It is a great value IF you know how to do some basic set-up work. I found the components and quality of the materials in this guitar to be above average. I never expect to buy any guitar and it to be in perfect playing shape. The nut was WAY to high. During setup I removed it and sanded it down, replaced it, adjusted action and truss rod, and now it plays and feels as good as my Gibson 335. If you're comfortable doing those things- this guitar is superb.
I would buy it again.

After opening the box I just couldn't help but just stare at it I got the ebony model and it's absolutely beautiful. The build quality is so good the attention to detail is something to respect and the sound and feel of this guitar just feels so right. I would absolutely say If you're considering it just go ahead and get it you won't be disappointed
