collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone SG Prophecy electric guitar combines iconic SG styling with Fishman Fluence pickups for a wealth of humbucker and single-coil tones. The Prophecy SG delivers a bold look and sound for today's progressive players. Its mahogany body with maple top provides full, articulate tone, while push/pull pots unlock three distinct voicings from the Fluence pickups. Combined with its fast-playing neck, ebony fretboard, and upgraded hardware, the Prophecy SG is a vision of what a 21st-century SG can achieve.

Fishman Fluence Pickups Shape Your Signature Sound

The Prophecy SG's dual Fluence humbuckers tap into vintage PAF tones, hot modern humbucker voicing, and single-coil textures. Pull up on the volume knobs to engauge the single-coil and vintage humbucker modes for crisp, articulate tones with glassy highs and tight lows. Push the knobs down for a high-output humbucker tone bursting with harmonically rich overtones. This pickup versatility makes the Prophecy SG ideal for players seeking a wide range of sounds for recording or performance.

Fast, Comfortable Neck Built for Speed and Expression

The Prophecy SG's SlimTaper mahogany neck has an asymmetrical carve that follows the natural contours of your hand. Its smooth ebony fretboard has 24 jumbo frets for liquid-smooth bends and finger-twisting solos. A 12" fretboard radius and narrow nut width provide a familiar feel for shredding. The neck heel blends seamlessly into the body for unimpeded high-fret access. Overall, the Prophecy SG's neck is designed for comfort and built for speed.

Upgraded Hardware for Rock-Solid Performance

Grover locking tuners provide exceptional tuning stability and fast string changes. The Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece transmit string vibration efficiently for powerful, sustained tone. A Graph Tech NuBone nut improves articulation and clarity. All hardware has a brushed nickel finish that complements the SG's aged gloss aesthetic.

An SG Icon for Today's Players

With its aged gloss finish, block and triangle inlays, and bound maple top, the Prophecy SG nods to SG tradition but has a vibe all its own. It delivers modern sound and playability for guitarists pushing the boundaries of rock, metal, blues and beyond. As part of Epiphone's Prophecy Collection, this SG was designed to inspire future legends.

The looks are great and with a good set up it plays well. Plan on some fret leveling as with any mass produced guitar that is not plecked at the factory. The pickups are amazing. The PAF setting is the best clean humbucker I've ever used. The hot modern is wild and requires some lowering of gain settings to use. Once that's done it's fantastic and sustains forever. Coil split sounds work good too. The fit and finish were perfect on everything except the frets.

Bought the tiger red finish and aside from a slight imperfection in the neck binding low e side near the seventh and ninth fret it is perfect. The three voiceings make for lots of tonal options. It plays great through my boss artist amp. Aside from a slight tuning adjustment it came ready to play right out of the box. Some have mentioned the battery was difficult to change but I had no such problem. Overall it is a great guitar. Service was outstanding from Guitar Center. This is the second guitar I have purchased from them this year and both were a positive experience. If you are considering a SG prophecy do it you won't be sorry.

Epiphone really stepped it up with this guitar. The neck and fretboard are comfortable and fast, the guitar isn't too heavy, and the satin type finish on the body is nice and smooth. The locking tuners are great and I've never had any tuning issues. The shining stars on this guitar are the Fishman pickups. They sound fantastic and all three different voicings are unique and expressive. Everything about it looks cool, the unique finish, the fret inlays, the headstock, it's all awesome. It's a great buy and a versatile guitar that I would recommend to anyone for any genre.

The new prophecy series give you Gibson quality and feel at less than half the price of a similar Gibson. The pickups are better than a Gibson SG, all other factors equal Gibson. The 3/4" maple top makes this a perfect mix of an SG and LP. Great guitar highly recommended. I also have the prophecy LP which is of equal quality and performance.

Had 2 frets to bad in under 1 month of casual use. Now the only way to play is to put a call one the 5 th fret or play base cords at the top of the neck, forego any neck play or scales because the tone is dead on 4 & 5. Poor craftsmanship ruined a really nice sounding and smooth playing guitar.
