Stock pickups are surprisingly good but I would upgrade to Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers or 59s. The tone will scare you then. (Unless you want a dark more electric tone then don't bother). Get a tune-o-matic bridge also. The nut can be filed down a decent amount to improve the action and don't be afraid to lighten up the gauge of strings, especially the low ones because the long scale will maintain the overall tension. Maybe like 12-16-20-28-38-48 flats. The large body has very smooth acoustic tone, not boxy like the Joe Pass tends to be. Solid feeling neck. You'll love it once it's set up right. No need to pay Gibson 10 grand for a nice jazz box.
