Electro-Voice

collapse expand iconDescription

The Electro-Voice Sx100+ is a 200-watt, 12" two-way, high efficiency, constant-directivity portable speaker system. Through the extensive use of computer-aided design and modeling, Electro-Voice engineers have developed a state-of-the-art professional loudspeaker system. Its performance and physical design make it perfect for many applications requiring quality sound in portable and fixed environments. The high-frequency section of the Sx100+ utilizes a molded-in, 65 x 65 constant-directivity horn. This unique pattern contributes to high intelligibility, vocals sound natural yet "cut through" in reverberant, noisy rooms. Coverage pattern is uniform, sound quality off-axis is very well maintained, even at 45 off axis (a 90 total coverage angle).

The horn's unique, Varipath throat geometry helps driver output to the corners of the room, areas which are not described in the usual specifications of horizontal and vertical coverage angles. This results in more uniform coverage throughout, even to those parts of the audience that typically do not receive the strongest coverage.

The Sx100+'s high-frequency horn is driven by the DH3, a 1" throat, wide-bandwidth, titanium-diaphragm driver using a unique, convex-drive TimePath phasing plug structure for smooth and extended high-frequency response.

I used these for years with an acoustic due in small clubs and bars and they are the best sounding speakers I've heard. I ran an 800 watt amp with acoustic processor and a sonic maximizer to help cut through the noise and these speakers had not trouble. Easy to carry and pole mount, very durable and very clean looking. After 20+ years I did have to replace the horn on one of them, but it wasn't expensive and easy to do and it's probably because I've had them pole mounted in my carport for 10 years. Overall A++

I bought these after many years with basic PA gear. These EV's sound better than anything under 75 lbs (they only weight about 35 lbs each) . When you have humped big PA speakers to gigs for years you will really like the carry in with these. One person can carry Two like suitcases in each hand. But the quality of sound is the best reason to by SX100. Acoustic instruments sound REAL like flute and acoustic guitars we have in our band. Uncolored is the way acoustic engineers describe it. I know they seem expensive for small cab 12" speakers but they sound clear and clean. If you have a loud heavy metal band than you may not want these BUT if you have a sax player you will love them. Will fill most small to medium size clubs crowds of 50 to 500 people. So many reason to like them: Small light weight cab size, clean clear acoustic sound, easy to pole mount or carry in, great for wind instruments, excellent ballence highs to lows. I used them for many years with a EV 7100 power amp (150 watts) and recently upgraded to a QSC GX5 (700 watts) no problems with either amp sounds great. I use a Mackie CFX12 mixing board and shure SM58 & 57 mics for vocals and wind instruments. This could be the Ultimate speaker if you have Flute, Sax, trumpet, trombone, or acoustic guitars that need to be heard with Vocalists.
