EVH
Description
Think of this Frankenstein Humbucker pickup as a brand-new version of the original Frankenstein's battle-worn guitar pickup, wound to the exact original specs, and built to fit in any humbucking-pickup-equipped guitar. One of the most famous humbuckers of all time is now available at a competitive price and serves as a great upgrade and alternative to the popular crop of cliché replacement humbuckers.

Wow.

Amazing pickup. I have at least 7 different humbuckers from Seymour to swap in and out, just to play with sound combinations. This Frankenstein pickup is not gonna ever leave the bridge position. I had a Screamin Demon in it before this. JB before that. This thing has a lot more punch than either one of those two. More mids, better bass response and the false harmonics and squeals I can get with it are fantastic. Plus wiring it is very straightforward. There is a single outer braided ground and a single lead to the master volume. That's it. No green and bare to the ground, hot to the pot and the red and whites twisted together. NONE of that. You'll never want to go back after installing it if you like gain, punch and responsiveness when you attack the strings.

Ehh made my $1200 guitar sound like an epiphone.

Literally sounds like there is not enough power. I had a seymour duncan JB in the bridge before i installed the EVH. I have no problem at all spending extra money if something is worth it. Im a huge EVH fan and this is just disappointing. Dont be like me! Now i have a terrible sounding pickup i cant return. Its so bad sounding I dont even know who i could sell this used to. Yes it is wired properly.

Outstanding pickup.Very articulate & clear, the harmonics naturally are just right there at your fingertips but more potent. This pickup cleans up very well. I have it installed in a player Strat & its awesome!

I have an 89 Strat that came with Lace Sensors, I love the neck and middle, but the bridge was always weak. I was looking for a lot more gain. Frankenstein delivers. It was exactly what I was hoping for.

Got my humbucker and took it to my luther and well........apparently my Humbucker had a short wire in it. Took about a week to get it rewired and stuff but once we gave it "life". This humbucker screeched on my Wolfgang. Very happy mine came out bad Because now the name "frankenstein" humbucker was earned.

  • Great sound

I have only played a few times since installing the pick up but so far I like it a lot. I never used the bridg pick up that came with my Strat. I am sure I will use it all the time now. Sounds amazing through my clean channel no pedal and with pedals.

Is this both neck and bridge position, I know that on the original only has the bridge wired up, but could it be used for a neck position as well?

You can use it for both positions.

How do these differ from the Seymour Duncan Frankenstein Custom Shop pickups?

I’m sorry, I don’t know. Perhaps an inquiry to EVH.

I know absolutely 0 about guitars and my son wants this for his guitar for Christmas... Does it work on ANY electric 6 string? He has a Yamaha, and a Fender (Squire maybe?) Thanks Walt

It would depend on the model if it can be done. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can iron out if this will work or not.

In a case like this we recommend having a qualified guitar tech look at the guitar

This resembles the '59 Seymour Duncan. Anyone know the ohm resistance this EVH pickup? I realize magnets and wire and windings make a difference. Was curious about the ohms.

    Open Reply - Gear Specialist
    Pickup reading 14kohm DC resistance
