EMG

Description

The EMG-SA pickup combines the attributes of the early Strat sound but with an added midrange response and higher output, giving it "bell-like" ringing harmonics and increased sustain. One single Alnico bar magnet delivers classic overdrive with a smooth midrange distortion, while still retaining the familiar high-end of a single-coil guitar pickup. These characteristics provide greater versatility than what is normally found in single-coil pickups. Favorites of Steve Lukather and David Gilmour just to name two, the EMG-SA is EMG's most popular guitar pickup for Stratocaster type guitars.

Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect cable, prewired split shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, screws & springs.

This pickup is wonderful sounding, it has a perfect output, a great eq balance, almost zero background noise, and really emphasized picking technique, which is what I was really looking for. The one drawback to this pickup is that it is a tad bit deeper than EMG humbuckers, I installed it on a neckthrough guitar, and thankfully enough the pickup is JUST low enough, but if I had to lower the pickup any more I would not be able to do it because the bottom of the pickup runs smack into the neck of the guitar.

I've bought one of EMG SA (just to see if I would like it) and installed them on a Squire. Man, what a difference! Nice midrange and gain; kind of what I was looking for. Instructions for the installation were easy and you could also get them on the EMG website if you wind up losing them. Since I do not like clipping the battery on the inside of the pickguard, I bought a battery compartment case and installed it on the back of the guitar for easy installation/removal.(of course I had to route the hole in the back to perform this. if you don't know how to do this, let a luthier handle this!) I liked this alot that I wound up buying another set.
