I've had this bass for a couple years now, played it in a school jazz band for a bit, in an alt rock band with a couple friends, and along with whatever music I'm interested in at the time. Pickups deliver great low-end voice, perfect for padding out sound in a small group or filling up the low end in a treble-heavy group. However: Knobs don't do much, and due to the frankly monstrous form, playing certain riffs can be hard without large hands, and finding a case that it fits into is difficult . That being said, I think I made a good choice taking this as my first bass. If your hands can jump the frets, it's easy to pick up. Build quality is good, tuning lasts pretty well, and the strings it shipped with were good quality.

Bought this bass and instantly fell in love! If you are a starter to 5-string basses, then this is the one to start. It's inexpensive, has great tone, and plays great!

I've owned the trans amber bass for a couple years now, and it's my go-to instrument for most stuff. This bass feels great, sounds phenomenal, and looks beautiful. The range is excellent, it's easy to dial in any tone you want for any style. It's also a lot lighter than my ML Metalman bass. If you're looking for an inexpensive, quality instrument, you can't go wrong with any Dean.

The product is labeled as a five string bass available in "Vintage Natural" finish, but the pictures on the website show that product with four strings. Is the five string "vintage natural" version truly available?
