Danelectro

Description

The Danelectro Fifty Niner electric guitar is a bold throwback to the golden age of rock and roll, combining vintage aesthetics with modern performance and reliability. With its semi-hollow construction, NOS+ lipstick pickups and wraparound bridge, the Fifty Niner delivers the jangly chime, snappy attack and unmistakable vibe that Danelectro is known for. Whether you're laying down surf riffs, garage rock rhythms or classic blues licks, this guitar offers a truly unique voice that cuts through with clarity and style.

Semi-Hollowbody With Timeless Tone

The Fifty Niner features Danelectro’s signature semi-hollow construction for added resonance and acoustic depth. The lightweight composite body with hardboard top and maple neck brings warmth and bite to your tone, while maintaining the rugged durability needed for stage and studio use. Its compact size and lightweight build also make it ideal for long sets or travel.

Vintage-Inspired NOS+ Lipstick Pickups

Equipped with two Danelectro NOS+ lipstick pickups, the Fifty Niner captures the sparkle and growl of early electric guitar tones. These pickups provide a clear, bright output with great harmonic content and dynamic sensitivity. A 3-way CRL-style selector switch gives you access to neck, bridge or both pickups, covering clean rhythm to gritty lead tones with ease.

Fully Adjustable Wraparound Bridge

A fully adjustable wraparound bridge ensures excellent intonation and rock-solid tuning stability. It also adds to the Fifty Niner’s sustain and resonance, providing a reliable anchor point for expressive playing and bending. Combined with the bone nut and vintage tuners, this setup balances retro character with modern functionality.

Made in Korea With Premium Components

Crafted in Korea to Danelectro’s high-quality standards, the Fifty Niner reflects the brand’s legacy of innovation and distinctive design. From its bolt-on maple neck to the gloss finish and classic lipstick pickup styling, every detail supports tone, feel and retro flair.

I've got a lot of guitars and will likely buy many more in my lifetime. Danelectro had never been on my radar. I always thought they looked quirky and a bit weird with the lipstick pickups. However, I recently was on vacation and visited a little music store that had a couple of new Danelectros on display (neither were this model). I picked one up and was quite impressed with the build quality, the neck, and the playability. The sound was also unlike anything in my collection. The light weight was a welcome benefit as well, as I'm primarily a Les Paul guy. I didn't buy the one at that little shop because they were asking more than retail for some reason. But I couldn't stop thinking about how great it felt. I started looking at the various models from Danelectro and landed on this one in the gold top finish. It is absolutely gorgeous! The color in the photo makes it look more yellow than in person. Setup out of the box was pretty darn good. Intonation is slightly off on one string but not enough to worry about at the moment. It sounds great unplugged and is an absolute joy to play. The pickups sound good, but I will likely swap them out for a set of Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups because I love their products and have them in quite a few of my guitars. I'm definitely a new fan of Danelectro and I recommend trying one for yourself. I think you'll love it!
