A nice companion for my DW BNOB snare. They sound and feel different but they both qualify and all-around workhorse drums. Glad I bought one!

I went to a GC store a few months ago and tested a few aluminum snares that were on display. To my surprise, this drum tops all of them, even those other famous iconic ones! For some reason the thinner 1mm shell (as opposed to the usual 1.2mm on other drums), 3mm hoops and the extra 0.5" depth would make it sound better (to my ears, at least)! It has a similar sound likened to those classic 70s soul/funk sound that I love, but with a modern take that I couldn't describe. I love it! Don't take my word for it. If you have the opportunity, go try it yourself and compare it with the others. Trust your ears and not your eyes (sometimes, the brand and looks can change your perception of the product)!
Nice!!!!

DW delivers again!! I own many snares and this snare is one of my favorites. It produces a crack and cuts through quite well.Nice mid range and tunes to a fat sound as well. Very nice snare to add to your collection if you're looking for a good aluminum snare.

this is a truly workhorse snare this thin aluminum snare reminds me of those vintage aluminum snares from the 1960-1970 Era. DW did a excellent job recreating that sound in this thin aluminum snare. i use this snare drum for genres of music and three position butt plate is excellent because it it like carrying three snare drums in one. i can change the sound without switching snare drums with a flick of a switch. that right there is a big plus for me. DW has hit a home run with this snare.
