Description

The DW Performance Series snare drum snare doesn't just round out your kit—it sharpens it. It captures the best of California craftsmanship, blending smart design and rich tone in every detail. Built by hand with North American maple, this snare features HVX shell construction, a 10-ply shell and a 45-degree back-cut bearing edge. These details give the drum a punchy, focused attack with a warm, resonant core. The quarter lugs and MAG throw-off make tuning and snare response quick and reliable. Drummers who need consistent projection and quick setup at rehearsals or on stage will appreciate how this snare fits into any kit, bringing out the clarity and power needed for standout grooves.

DW's HVX Shell Construction Delivers a Focused Attack

When your snare needs to speak first and fast, this build delivers. DW's HVX shell design uses cross-laminated plies of North American maple to control tone and resonance. The 10-ply build tightens up the low end, so the drum speaks quickly with each hit. The result is a crisp attack with defined body—great for cutting through loud music. The shell's construction keeps overtones in check, giving players a centered, reliable sound in every environment.

Snappy Response and Friction-Free Feel With the DW MAG Throw-Off

Dialing in snare response shouldn't slow you down. The MAG throw-off on this drum uses a magnetic system to engage and disengage the snare wires with zero friction. This mechanism eliminates slippage and provides a smooth, reliable feel when switching snares on or off. Quick adjustments during a set or soundcheck become second nature, letting drummers maintain focus on performance instead of fussing with hardware.

Quarter Lugs and TruePitch Rods Keep the DW Snare Tuned Tight

When time is of the essence and tone matters, this setup keeps you locked in. Quarter lugs paired with TruePitch tension rods give this snare drum consistent, even tension all around the head. Each rod adjusts smoothly, making it easy to dial in a preferred tuning. The 45-degree back-cut bearing edge helps the head seat perfectly, so changes in pitch are precise and stable. Tuning up before rehearsal or tweaking for a live show takes less time and effort with this setup.

Built to Travel and Built to Last—the DW Performance Series Shell

Touring? Rehearsing? Hammering hard in the studio? No problem. The 10-ply North American maple shell gives the drum strength and reliability, even with regular transport and hard playing. Durable hardware, including the MAG throw-off and quarter lugs, resists wear and keeps the snare in top shape through gigs and practice. Handcrafted assembly in the DW custom shop ensures every detail meets strict standards, promoting long-lasting performance and tone.

The DW Performance Series Snare Inspires Confident Grooves

This snare feels like home the moment you hit it. Experienced drummers who want a responsive, powerful snare will value this model's blend of quick attack and warm sustain. Consistent tuning and fast snare engagement streamline setup and support creative playing in the studio or on stage. Every feature contributes to a snare drum that keeps pace with demanding performances, helping players focus on their music, not the gear.

I purchased the 6.5 version of this snare on my way to a gig. The sound stood out immediately. I give this snare an "A+". Great for gospel/CCM music.
