D'Addario

Description

The D'Addario XT Electric Guitar Coated Strings Medium provide an uncoated feel with dramatically extended lifespan. The XT coating is applied to each string, delivering advanced corrosion resistance and consistency while preserving the bright tone and natural feel of an uncoated string. Beneath the groundbreaking coating, XT strings are built on a NY Steel core and nickel-plated steel wrap wire, producing a versatile tone that suits any style. The 11-49 Medium gauge strings provide increased volume, with slightly more tension and resistance.

Play Longer Between Changes

The XT coating protects strings from the elements, reducing buildup and keeping them fresh for up to 4 times longer than uncoated strings. Players can enjoy consistent, reliable performance over a dramatically extended period, reducing time spent changing strings and money spent on replacements.

Familiar Feel, Enhanced Durability

While the XT coating provides extreme protection, strings retain the familiar feel of uncoated nickel-plated steel. The coating is applied thinly and evenly, avoiding the slippery feel of other coated options. Beneath the coating, Fusion Twist technology and a hexagonal core provide added strength, enabling aggressive styles without sacrificing tone.

Consistent, Versatile Tone

The nickel-plated steel wrap wire in XT strings delivers a bright, focused tone that cuts through live mixes and recordings. The medium gauge set provides a balanced tension that produces full tone across the fretboard, suitable for any genre. Players can rely on the same signature tone show after show, session after session.

Premium Protection and Convenience

XT strings come in specialized, corrosion-resistant packaging that keeps them fresh in storage and transit. Color-coded ball ends make for quick, accurate string changes, even on a dimly lit stage. XT strings offer premium protection and convenience, enabling musicians to focus on their craft.

Ernie Ball has lost my business

The headline says it all. It seems like I was spending more time changing strings than I was playing. I unfortunately have acid hands and these have proved themselves worthy. Why these over Elixirs or Cleartone? Price for one. And two, these string feel more like uncoated strings than Cleartone or the Elixir Optiweb which boasts a "natural feel." I thought there was no coating when I first put these on but it's so minuet that I have to feel for the coating. The reason I say Ernie Ball lost my business is twofold. One- they don't coat all of the strings in their titanium line that I'm aware of. Two- Price point. For a few extra bucks, these strings have been on my electric for almost three months and still going strong. I already switched out my Ernie Ball acoustic strings and even asked Daddario about a seven string set.

Lately, I have been experimenting with strings on my electrics.I have quite a few guitars and play them all regularly, so I do not like to change strings all the time. So, the coated option works well for me. In my opinion, these are the best. They have the best feel and tone.

Daddario strings are a great choice for any player. I have used their strings for years and they always deliver a good product at a competitive price. Reliable performance on every instrument I have used them on electric and acoustic alike. But don't take my word for it try them and judge for yourself. With their wide selection of strings to choose from you will most certainly find what works for you. With their good feel, tone and service life they have become my favorite always delivering consistent performance.

  • My favorite set of strings.

I love this set of strings. For me it feels like that perfect set, the treble strings are nice and light, while the bass strings have the extra rich tones from the thicker strings. They're the perfect middle ground between 9s and 10s, and are quickly becoming my strings of choice for all of my guitars unless they're in a lower alternate tuning.
