    To choose the correct string scale length for your viola, measure the body length of your instrument (excluding the neck and scroll) and select a string set labeled for that size; for most standard "full-size" violas, which range from 15-16.5 inches, a "medium scale" string set will be appropriate, while larger violas may require a "long scale" string set.
