No Modifications Necessary
After quite some time spent on looking for a strap for my most prized and now cherished new Gibson Les Paul Standard I decided to go with the Planet Waves Leather Lock for one 2 very principled reasons. One, I just didn't want to risk having to modify my brand new Gibson Les Paul for something that might not be to my liking, and furthermore possibly degrade the originality of what could become a very rare and expensive guitar. Secondly, the Gibson guitar case is very tight fitting and any additional extension of the strap pins would exceed the tight dimensions of the case. Thus the Planet waves was the least invasive option while still giving me the comfort and protection I desire and all while still allowing me to fit the guitar back in its case. I'd read one review saying the leather wasn't up to par but I just haven't found that to be the case. I mean its not super plush glove type supple leather but its certainly comfortable and the guitar stays at the angle I desire. The leather isn't overly thick or hard like a dried band of beef jerky. I can't see where anyone would go wrong with this strap, and best of all, it's simple and my guitar still fits back into its case without any modifications to the guitar.

Reasonable
I was expecting a higher quality of leather to be honest. It does its job though. I bought this because I own the fabric version of this locking strap and it like to slide around. This on the other hand is extremely comfortable. Although the leather isn't the best it is really soft to the touch, and feels like it isn't going to start wearing out or start fraying at the edges anytime soon. So if you feel like paying for a slightly overpriced version of the Planet Waves locking strap that is more comfortable and useful for live performance, then I suggest picking this up!

Love the design and had a few I bought years ago. I recently bought 3 more to keep one on each guitar case and not having to change. Of the last 3 ones, two have broken the thin strip that hold the strap material, and this with regular use. I suspect cost cutting rose its ugly head again. The fraction of a penny saved make the strap unusable. DON'T BUY IT.
Easy on, not so easy off

It's a reasonably comfortable strap, making it wider would improve it but, as it is, it handles my LP reasonably well. The rotating ratchet mechanism that locks the strap button seems quite ingenious, but since it's made out of plastic it does not inspire a lot of confidence (only time will tell I guess...).
