OK kids, this strap will work with an A or F body mandolin. Here is how. On an F body mandolin you will feed the end of the strap through the slot on the other end and it will make a loop and then put it on the scroll. Look at pictures of Bill Monroe's f body mandolin and you will see how he put his strap on there. The other end has a few positions to put on the strap pin on the end of your mandolin. For an A body installation do this. You take that skinny end without the slot and you will feed it under the fret board at the very end of the fret board. and then under the front portion of the pick guard if you still have one on. Basically you are making the strap loop around the skinny end of the A body. This is how a lot of mandolin players attach their strap you may notice this method of installation on a few videos. Now you may notice this strap to be a bit on the short side. NOT A PROBLEM. This is a little bit of trivia for you. Notice the great Bill Monroe has his strap over his right shoulder same side as his pickin hand. This is kind of a fashionable way many bluegrass pickers choose to wear their mandolins and some banjo pickers do this too. This came from not wanting to remove your hat each time you put your instrument on to play. that would mess up your hair if you did and not a good thing to do on the stage or on a TV show. So the wearing of the strap in this way came out of this. That is how the story was told to me anyhow. It will take a little getting used to for some pickers new to bluegrass music and especially mandolin playing. There are a lot of advantages to using your strap in this manner but it does take a little getting used to. It wont take long to be comfortable with this style. Just watch a few Bill Monroe videos or even Bobby Osborne and other bluegrass mandolin players. This strap is a great strap for your average size player. Great price for this strap and it is great quality too.Get this strap!!!

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Leather Mandolin Strap:

I use this product for the purpose it is intended, to hold a mandolin while playing. If you are looking for something with a lot of fancy and flashy bling this is not it. However if you just want a functional, easy to use, good quality mando strap at a good price, I would recommend this one.

Very comfortable and good quality leather (much better than the "genuine" lowest quality grade). Holes fit snug on the mandolin pins.

I have 2 mandolins -- a 2016 Loar and a 1938 Stradolin. This strap was purchased for the 1938 after a major repair. These straps are comfortable and look great.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Leather Mandolin Strap:

Nice strap for what it is. Simple, nicely made, lightweight without being cheap, comfortable. I wanted something not too fancy without buckles on the back or anything over the top that would get in the way. So far, so good.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Leather Mandolin Strap:

Works really well. I did read some earlier comments about it being small, but since I'm a relatively petite person, it works great for me. My husbands much larger, and it doesn't work if he tries to put it over his head, but it's ok if he just sling it over his right shoulder. I do wish it came with instructions, as I am a beginner mandolin player. I had to watch some youtube videos to figure out how to attach it, but it was easy enough once I figured it out. The only thing that would have made this product a little better is if it was a little more adjustable. If you want to make it shorter or longer, you have to detach it from the mandolin and reattach it using a different hole in the strap. Overall, this product works very well, it looks nice, and I would recommend it to friends.
