This strap WILL work with an a or F body mandolin
OK kids, this strap will work with an A or F body mandolin. Here is how. On an F body mandolin you will feed the end of the strap through the slot on the other end and it will make a loop and then put it on the scroll. Look at pictures of Bill Monroe's f body mandolin and you will see how he put his strap on there. The other end has a few positions to put on the strap pin on the end of your mandolin. For an A body installation do this. You take that skinny end without the slot and you will feed it under the fret board at the very end of the fret board. and then under the front portion of the pick guard if you still have one on. Basically you are making the strap loop around the skinny end of the A body. This is how a lot of mandolin players attach their strap you may notice this method of installation on a few videos. Now you may notice this strap to be a bit on the short side. NOT A PROBLEM. This is a little bit of trivia for you. Notice the great Bill Monroe has his strap over his right shoulder same side as his pickin hand. This is kind of a fashionable way many bluegrass pickers choose to wear their mandolins and some banjo pickers do this too. This came from not wanting to remove your hat each time you put your instrument on to play. that would mess up your hair if you did and not a good thing to do on the stage or on a TV show. So the wearing of the strap in this way came out of this. That is how the story was told to me anyhow. It will take a little getting used to for some pickers new to bluegrass music and especially mandolin playing. There are a lot of advantages to using your strap in this manner but it does take a little getting used to. It wont take long to be comfortable with this style. Just watch a few Bill Monroe videos or even Bobby Osborne and other bluegrass mandolin players. This strap is a great strap for your average size player. Great price for this strap and it is great quality too.Get this strap!!!

I purchased a beautiful ivory colored Ibenez mandolin, and this 'real' mando strap is much better than altering a git strap or belt. The price was great. I couldn't buy a piece of suede and leather for the price. Im ready to jam to my favorite el Ranchero and Bollywood tunes!!...

What is the overall length of this strap, from the attachment points on the ends. I'm using an "A" style mandolin, and two straps I've ordered are way too short to reach from the strap "button" on the body of the instrument, to the space under the strings above the nut.

What is the correct way to use this strap on an F style mandolin? Everyone seems to do it differently and neither end seems to attach easily to the strap button on the bottom.
You loop the strap through itself around the cutaway or neck, then attach the other end to the strap button.
