Description

Coconut shell is a durable and bright organic material that you're sure to want to add to your guitar pick collection. It creates increased volume during play and has very tough and dense properties. Each pick is hand-made with a smooth polish on one side and an indented, roughened grip on the other side.

Takes getting used to, but once you do...!!!

As with all things, these have a bit of a learning curve. You'll probably love it or hate it. If you're used to playing one type of pick exclusively, these will feel very different at first. I was using the Dunlop .88 mm for years. Middle of the road thickness. I am primarily a funk player (think Nile Rodgers), so chicken-scratch is a big part of my style. I did not think my style would lend itself well to these picks. However, I picked these up for primarily acoustic use (at the time). I can't play anything else now. I love these. Gripping them is easy. Extraordinarily durable, especially since I am accustomed to playing pretty hard. THE BEST PART...they are so versatile. I can play softly and get excellent tone, and in the blink of an eye dig in and get some serious attack. The dynamics are incredible, once you learn how to control it. They feel excellent in my hands, rock solid, but more forgiving and versatile than a metal pick. I say they are not for everyone, but I absolutely recommend giving it a try if you're looking to try something a little out of the box and excited for a new challenge.

VERY hard SHELL, VERY THICK and COLORS String ACtion

The pick feels great. It fits to the thumb nicely. I was excited to try it out. The first thing I noticed was that the strings were clacking more than ringing. It's an interesting coloring of the string sound. I found it easy to strum down but, because of the pick's lack of flexibility, strumming back up was not easy. In either case the sound of the pick was louder than the strings. It's a high-end, wooden clack sound. That being said, I can see myself using this in live shows to add to the percussive sound of my guitar during some numbers. I would not use it on any of my recordings because the clacking sound is too much for the mic IMHO. It's very very thick. 'Very hard and not flexible at all. It's like strumming with a polished, flat rock. Because i like to experiment, I'll have some fun with it, but I wouldn't recommend it to my fellow pickers and strummers as a "must-have pick." (PS: Sounds decent on my bass. Adds to the "Thunk.")

I have used a coconut pick before when I was younger but it was handmade and unfortunately I lost it but these are comparable without a doubt!!! I see reviews for these saying they aren't good for aggressive styles but to me this is the most versatile pick I've ever used (I do use lower gain than most)! The dynamic control I have when using on of these is wider than that of a tortex or a Jazz III. It's perfect for my large hands and the only thing that might beat this is a certain "cheesy" brand of picks that I have on the way right now. I could only be more pleased if I had three usable picks instead of two!

These picks are a bit thick, but are easy to hold due to the contoured shape and the very smooth finish!

Not what I was expecting, the grooves are not set for a normal thumb grip and each one feels different. Does have good sound and is made from quality material.

  • Makes my D-41 a serious banjo killer.

Gives my D-41 booming bass, crisp mids, shimmering highs and roof-blowing power; even with a moderate piking force. My go-to pick!
