Carl Martin

collapse expand iconDescription

Even though the BassDrive has been listed in the catalog for years, Carl postponed the release of this pedal until Carl Martin was able to tweak the EQ and crunch to where it could add a warm 'tube' sound to modern digital bass amps and actually improve their performance.

The new Carl Martin Bass Drive now does exactly that, creating that famous John Entwistle (The Who) tone; big, round and phat with just the right amount of sustain to place your bass properly in the mix and allow it to 'pop' in live and recording situations. The Drive control blends evenly with your bass tones, rather than sitting on top like so many others, and very naturally maintains a full bottom-end. Gain, Bass-Mid-Treble, Level Controls look after your sound, and the regulated and switch-able Power Supply (115-240V) provides the Bass Drive with tons of headroom.

I have a high end Mark Bass little tube 800 amp head, a 1-15 bottom and a 4-10 top (play mostly a Fender Jazz and an Ernie Ball Stingray).....it sounded good but was missing SOMETHING.... This is what I was missing! The tube preamp...there is no substitute for this, if you are playing with no preamp you have GOT to do something about that....and even if it says "preamp" on your amp it is NOT the same thing! I am thrilled with this, I've only had it a couple days so I still have to play around with the 'gain' and 'levels' to find that REALLY sweet spot....but I am glad I acquired this, this is that little missing "OOOOMPH" that I couldn't quite put my finger on! YES! Finally happy with my sound! A simple "on/off" foot switch and a 120vac power cord, you won't need batteries.
