Yamaha P-143 88-Key Digital Piano | Demo and Overview with Gabriel Aldort

Yamaha P-143 Digital Piano Overview

The Yamaha P-143 88-key digital piano delivers a premium piano-playing experience in a sleek, compact design. Featuring Yamaha's Graded Hammer Compact (GHC) keyboard action, this model replicates the feel of an acoustic piano with weighted keys that are heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble. Its stereo-sampled grand piano voice is derived from the Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand, known for its transparent tone and spacious treble. Perfectly crafted for beginners, students and hobbyists, the P-143 offers expressive sound and authentic touch at an affordable price point. With advanced features like Bluetooth audio and USB connectivity, players can easily integrate this digital piano into modern setups for practice, performance and creative exploration.
Graded Hammer Compact Keyboard
The P-143's Graded Hammer Compact keyboard offers a realistic touch that mirrors the mechanics of an acoustic piano. Weighted keys create a gradual resistance—heavier in the lower register and lighter in the upper—for dynamic and expressive playing. This design encourages proper technique and finger strength, making it ideal for new students honing their skills. The compact keyboard construction saves space without compromising authenticity, while the matte finish on the black keys minimizes slippage during extended practice sessions. For players seeking an acoustic feel in a portable format, this keyboard offers unparalleled tactile feedback.
Stereo-Sampled CFIIIS Grand Piano Voice
The P-143 features a stereo-sampled voice from Yamaha's renowned CFIIIS concert grand piano, celebrated for its bright, transparent tone and well-rounded sonic depth. The spacious treble and rich resonance provide an immersive playing experience, suitable for a wide range of musical styles. The damper resonance function adds realistic sustain and depth when paired with an optional damper pedal, further enhancing the full-bodied sound. With the added benefit of no tuning required, this digital piano delivers consistent tone without the maintenance demands of an acoustic instrument.
Smart Connectivity and Enhanced Functionality
Modern features like Bluetooth audio and USB to Host connectivity make the P-143 a versatile tool for musicians. Bluetooth audio allows players to connect their devices wirelessly, enabling seamless playback and accompaniment with favorite tracks. The USB to Host port supports MIDI and audio functionality, streamlining the connection to digital audio workstations or learning apps. Additionally, the Smart Pianist app unlocks advanced controls and features, letting users customize their settings or explore additional voices. These tools make it easy for players to integrate the P-143 into educational, recording or performance environments.
A Digital Piano Designed for Portability
The P-143 combines functionality and elegance in Yamaha's most compact P Series design. Its lightweight frame blends effortlessly into any room, making it a great choice for home practice spaces. For musicians on the move, an optional soft case enables easy transportation to lessons, rehearsals or travel destinations. Despite its compact size, the piano's durable construction ensures long-term reliability, while its stylish aesthetic complements modern décor. This balance of portability and durability makes the P-143 an excellent choice for players who need an adaptable instrument without sacrificing quality.
Perfect for Beginners and Hobbyists
The Yamaha P-143 is designed for pianists who want authentic feel and tone in a compact, user-friendly format. Its GHC keyboard action and stereo-sampled grand piano voice provide a foundation for expressive playing, while Bluetooth and app integration add modern convenience. Lightweight and easy to transport, this digital piano is ideal for new students, hobbyists or anyone seeking a reliable instrument to start their musical journey. #sweepstakes I purchased this piano for my daughter who has been playing and taking lessons for the past five years. The Yamaha P-143 has a real feel and sound like a grand piano. As well as the ability to connect to an iPad to change the sound of the piano! This full size piano is a great upgrade with our taking up to much space. I would definitely recommend this piano to anyone looking to get started playing and to those that have been playing for years!

We love that this keyboard has fully weighted keys. This allows for proper muscle memory to be formed so that we can easily go back and forth between the keyboard and a full size piano. It's almost like having a full size piano without having to worry about space and size, and it can be carried around relatively easy. Since it has a built in metronome, it also reduces the amount of peripheral equipment required. Would 100% recommend to anyone starting out or looking to get a new keyboard.

Easy set up, bought for learning piano. Sounds are awesome. Yamaha quality. Headphone jack. Sleek appearance. Keys feel realistic to an upright piano. Comes with a sustain pedal and music holder. Can't go wrong with Yamaha. Very happy with purchase. Recommend

Loving the sound it produces. Had to sell a really nice Yamaha keyboard I used due to a move a few years ago so missed playing. Just got it yesterday with the stand and seat for a goid deal. Three separate pkgs came all together. Zero issues. Very pleased.

I'm looking for a basic piano to use for an open mic that I will be hosting on a weekly basis. My needs are that it sounds and plays well for the musicians I like the weighted keys. I need it to be able be run directly through my mixing board to powered speakers. I will be transport to the venue for each session so transportability is a factor. I also don't want to give too many sound And set up options to minimize time gaps between performers due to players wanting custom sounds. This unit is in my budget as long as it fills my criteria. Please advise if this is my best option. Thank you
This would be perfect. Only 24 lbs. Use the Headphone out to run to your board.submitteda year ago

I assume you use the headphone output to send to the PA if you're going to use this keyboard live. Does this shut off the internal speakers, and if so, is there a way to bypass this so you still hear the built-in speakers?
Yes, it does. There is no way to bypass.submitted2 years ago
